Bed storage container ideas

Yeah, I was just wondering if I'd grow annoyed with the fact that I'd need to lift the cover up to get to the box at all times. But at the same time I don't plan to have anything in that box that I'd need access to on a regular basis while on the road or on the trail, mostly emergency/recovery/fixing equipment. Hm.

-grocery shopping

I got the 48 gallon Action Packer today. It's actually a lot bigger on the inside than I expected, so that was nice. Fits in the truck bed and under my tonneau cover with no problem, it's exactly what I wanted. Threw all my emergency stuff in there and it still has a ton of free room. Great buy, so thank you all for the pictures and recommendations.

Oof... for $500, I'd argue you can do better. Also, I wanted to fit the box under my cover as I prefer that stealth look.

 

Thankfully the toolbox came with the truck when I bought it used. I would have picked a lower profile box if I had picked it out myself.
It is nice, as the box bolts to the front rail, and both side rails. And locks water tight.

 

After seeing the new Ridgeline (very disappointed in it) I'm definitely getting the Tacoma.
My question is this: I really like storing gear in the Ridgeline lockable trunk.
If I get a rear cover on the Tacoma, is their an option to secure a storage box in the bed and keep it from sliding around when driving.
I'm not talking about taking up the entire bed, I still occasionally need to be able to haul stuff in the bed like ice chest or plywood. I need something about the size of an 70qt ice chest

 

You could do a tri-fold tonneau cover that folds both directions (I think Extang or Backflip has one) with a tool/utility box mounted at the front of your bed, there are many tool boxes that don't go above the height of the bed rail

Edit: On second look it looks like the t-nuts are at the bottom so it would go above the height of the bed

 

Buy a jobbox.

 

I thought most of the tool boxes mount equal to or slightly above the truck bed making the cover not work?
