    Trd sport DCLB.and thanks

The short box only came in standard in Canada and they are hard as hell to find, I would have loved a auto dcsb OR but then I had to import from the USA and I figured for warranty reasons it would just be easier to keep it close to home. In Canada the OR only comes in the AC. So stupid what Toyota did

I was waiting from about March 2015. We bought 35 acres of bush, so I figured I would need a truck that fit in my garage. Was gonna go with a limited as a daily driver, with some off road capability. Then the Canadian prices came out...

I was on vacation, and was actually able to stalk 2 of the first '16s at the local dealership (yes there was only one). Beautiful trucks.

Day I got home, I was off, wife at work, son at daycare, I drove my wife to work and then drove by local dealership, where I had purchased my previous 3 new vehicles, to see selection available.

Get home, search Kijiji for the entire province, boom, 2012 5 minutes away posted that day. OME lift, katzkins, method wheels, duratecs, low milage, and less than half of what the '16 limited would have cost me...I actually sing to my truck, when my wife's not around, "You are so beautiful, to me" ala Joe Cocker.

I was looking for a Tacoma. I have always liked the blue TRD Off Road version. I went to the dealership and saw the new ones but they didn't seem different enough from 2nd gen to me to warrant the extra cost. I began looking for one a few years older, but just couldn't find a killer deal. There's no dealing on Tacoma's in Maryland. After a few months of looking though, I found my blue one. It's a 2007 but only has 72,000 miles on it. It was a little older than I had been looking for but it sure was nice, so it was a no brainer for much less than half the price of a 3rd gen. Oh yeah, I got a sweet deal too! Plus, there are a ton of accessories already available for the 2nd gens. I'm buying stuff off of Craigslist for it for pennies.

I almost sat down to order a 3rd gen. So glad I did. Tge new trucks drive miserably. Power sucks. Not an enjoyable truck driving experience. Love my 2013

I bought my 15 brand new a month before the 16s came out and I love it and have yet to drive a 16. I couldn't get past the disproportionate sized grill they put on it, WTF??? Even though I haven't driven one yet the high reving and constant shifting is not for me, I've driven many other vehicles like that and it sucked.

I'm not liking that Gen 3 grill either.

    Workin' on it....
I had looked at the pics of the 2016 before they were released and just was not in love with the front end. Everything else from the cabin back looks great. Was hoping to get into a brand new 2015 (originally looking at an AC TRD OR) but when I sat down with the salesman they would only budge like $250 off MSRP which I thought was ridiculous after reading the forums here where guys are getting much better deals on their trucks (albeit often in different areas of the country).

I kept looking and found a 2013 DCSB OR which I am very happy with. Getting the DC over the AC was totally worth it.

I knew I wanted my next vehicle to be a new Taco. I was watching whatever information was being leaked out about the 3rd Gen and was curious, but my preference has been to buy vehicles that have been in production for at least a couple years rather than the first year of a whole new thing (especially if it implies a new drivetrain). The 2nd Gen was completely mature, and a popular truck with a good reputation for reliability, longevity, performance. Once my finances allowed it in summer of '14 I ordered exactly what I wanted. It took 6 weeks to get it, 2014 Access Cab, tow package, auto, SR5, NO TRD locking differential. I didn't want the fancy locker stuff because

    A) I apparently don't do heavy enough 4-wheeling to need it, I've owned three previous 4wd yotas with no locker and have never run into a situation where the lack of locker caused more than for me to back up and take a slightly different line,
    B) The locking differential has a higher service interval,
    C) I didn't want to pay for something that I have never needed in nearly 20 years of CO and Utah 4-wheeling

I would have been a little bummed if the 3rd Gen had turned out to be some kind of miracle advance with 25% more power and 30% better mileage, but even if it had I'm happy with my no-surprises, solid-as-sears late 2nd Gen. I think the new ones are a little funny-looking, but I've found in 40-some years of watching new vehicles come out, they often look funny at first. Then you get used to it and the older ones start to look older while the newer ones look normal.
