Hey everyone, new here and in a pickle looking for some help. I have a 2013 Toyota Tacoma v6 6spd. 4 door base model. It's my daily driver and does great for everything I need it to do. However the clutch separated from itself at 76,200 miles for no reason. Mechanic says he's never seen that happen before. 3/4 life left on the clutch, no sign of wear on the flywheel so there are no signs of foul play. Dealership says it's not covered under warranty. How is that not a defective clutch? Any help would be great. Anyone know who makes the clutch? If they have a warranty? Anything?

gross. I don't like to hear this. I've got a 2008 access cab V6 6spd 4x4 with just over 80,000 miles. I've got some sweet whining (that I assume is the throw out bearing) that stops when I apply the wight of my foot (light pressure) to the clutch pedal. I hope it's just another noise tacomas are infamous for, but dread something like your situation. I hope you get it worked out!

Sorry to hear that. Power train warranty (on my truck) is 60,000 miles.

clutches that old in miles are not covered because

    it is a wear item
a clutch lifetime is largely governed by the operator

it is far too easy to abuse one to failure with no other evidence
it was not abused than your word vs someone else

if the clutch failed 20,000 miles or less maybe you have an argument

but +70,000 miles ?, dang man there are plenty of clutches failing at those miles on other vehicles
from simply driving hard a lot

if there was a production problem (bad adhesive) there would likely be a TSB

There is a reason. We may not know what it is, but there is always a reason.

The clutch material is riveted to the clutch plate did it separate from the plate or did the center hub come apart from the rest of the disk?

Either one could indicate operator error. Notice I said could and not does.... That is why the dealer wouldn't touch it.
