Anyone seen the new Land Cruiser? Looks sweet from what I've seen, but that price is insane!

The starting MSRP is over $80K?! This might be the dumbest thing to ask on a Toyota site, but what the hell makes this thing cost twice as much as another Toyota SUV with a V8 (i.e. the Sequoia)??

In my opinion no truck is worth that but when you consider a new range rover cost more, new tahoe is $65,000, new Cadillac Escalade is $73,000, if I was spending close to that for a new one, the Land Cruiser is a no brainer. It will be on the road for decades after the rest of these are in a junk yard. My 93 FZJ80 still runs like a new one and every time I stop for gas, someone comes up and talks to me about it.

This is a good read on the new Land Cruiser. The writer is spot on in my opinion. I doubt the 200 series will ever be a collector like the 40 and 60. Even the 80 is becoming a collector, mostly because it was the last of the rugged Land Cruisers with solid axles and optional front and rear diff lockers. If Toyota would bring the turbo diesel 70 series to the US, they couldn't keep them on the lot. Where they do sell the diesel 70 Series, they cost around $43,000.

This is a good read on the new 70 series. As a Land Cruiser owner for the last 25 years, this is my dream rig. I can't see it ever happening but it's nice to dream.
