When I initially started shopping for a 2016 I watched a ton of review videos. All the reviewers had access to the same Tacoma. A 2016 DCLB (I think LB) TRD Off road with the Tech and Towing package. The license plate was 797 California which is why I'm calling it the 797 Tacoma.
Anyway, the interior of the truck has a piece of plastic surrounding the Display and the air Vents. On the 797 Tacoma that's painted to match the exterior coat of the truck.

But all of the Tacomas at the 3 dealerships I looked at were not color matched.

Is this a TRD Offroad only option? Or was this something they did custom for the Truck they lent out to be reviewed?

I'm picking up my 2016 DCSB TRD Sport 4x4 V6 Towing in Manual today. I'd like to remove that plastic piece and have it painted to match. But I'm looking for more information before I contact a paint shop.

Shok Industries 2/0 big 4 upgrade and sound deadener.
I've seen it on a few, a couple people were swapping theirs for painted/standard as well. Might be worth throwing a WTB thread in here or BST and see if you can find anyone that wants to switch.

The only ones that have the painted piece are the trucks with the orange stiched interior package and the Inferno colored dash piece.

In Canada only inferno coloured tacos get this orange trim piece with orange interior stitching. One of the many things Toyota does differently here than south of the border, and we all ask why!

yea, it's odd. I do like the orange highlights on the interior. The dash change shouldn't be too hard, but the stitching.....no idea, by hand perhaps.

Good to know. Thanks. Once I get a can of color matched paint I'll have to remove the pieces and paint it.

Was just talking to a dealer yesterday on ordering a Sport 4x4 in Inferno. He had no idea about the orange dash pieces and said that there is no way for him to order it like that, and said the ones I have seen must have been done custom by the truck owner. I've seen many pics online and reviews on Youtube that had these trim pieces so I am likely to call BS on that story. Anyone have a hint on what they need to do or a code that needs to be put in, in order to order the truck with the orange dash pieces?

If you order the black interior it will have the orange stitching and orange dash trim. The salesman should know this. If he doesn't I would ask for a different salesman.

Thanks. Apparently no one at the dealership was aware of this as I totally stumped them with this question and not a single person could give an answer other than the sales manager telling my salesman that what I saw was custom and not the norm. I knew this was not so, so figured I would check here first. The truck I plan to order will have black interior so I guess it will be a non issue. lol Thanks for the quick response.

Show them the picture and comment and ask for a 500 dollar discount for informing them about their product.
