I bought one. Have NEVER got a compliment on the looks. Only had it 10 months though, so maybe I'll get one someday.

I don't mind the looks of it (or lack thereof), I like it because it's rare. Also makes it easy to get to my tools and gear through the windoors on my shell.

I browse Autotrader.com periodically and at any one time I'll see maybe three '05-'06 stepsides for sale nationwide and they sell quickly for top prices.

Mine is as rare and unique as one can get. Limited 4WD TRD Offroad with full factory leather in beautiful condition and factory LSD rear, topend factory sound system with six disc CD changer (I do get compliments on that and the leather). Sweet combo of VVT-i 4.7l V8 and the 5spd A750 auto trans.

Stepside trucks made sense to me back in the dark ages ('40s and '50s to you young folks) when the rear fenders were small enough to allow side mounting of the spare and maybe a gas can on the other side.

My wife saw one for the first time not too long ago and she said "what the hell is that ugly thing".

I see them from time to time, but not often. Not a big fan at all.

I never got the point of stepside beds. All it does is reduce your bed capacity (depending on the truck) and add weird contours to the body paneling. I dunno they just look goofy to me.

I personally don't mind them. It's nice to see something out of the ordinary in terms of trucks on the roads.
