Just wanted to report back on a little trip I took in my '15 Taco, bought with 9mi on it April '15, currently has 14,xxx.

I took a trip across the country back to my hometown over the holidays... from Denver to Cleveland. It's 1,370mi there and 1,400mi back, ~19hrs each way. Changed the oil and rotated tires and away we go.

Left Denver after work Wednesday, Dec. 23nd at 2pm and banged out 13hrs straight. Swapped with wifey and let her finish the last 6hrs. While in Ohio, drove to Upper Sandusky (2hrs) from there to Columbus (1.5hrs) and back to Upper. Then from Upper Sandusky to Painesville.

Left the following Tuesday at around noon, made it back to Denver around 6pm Wednesday (stayed in hotel Tuesday night). We spent that night at our place, and woke up the next morning at 7am to depart for Park City, Utah to snowboard -about 7.5 hours and 500mi one way.

Stayed in Park City New Year's Eve till the following Sunday and returned to Denver.

10 states and 4,100mi in 11 days. Truck drove great.

    Congrats on your trip, brotherman!

Do you have a build thread? What are you running, suspension and tire-wise?

Thanks guys it was a blast. Just thought I'd give some positive feedback on the Tacomas for once since everyone is always picking them apart.

@TacoTaco15 No build thread yet.. I might start one once I get modding a little more. Suspension is stock, stock rims w/ Spidertrax 1.25" spacers, tires are 265/75/16 Kumho AT51

Gorgeous truck! I look forward to seeing your build if/when you do one.

I really like that stance with the stock steelies. I also have the steelies, so I'm bias. :) But it's nice to know I can hop up to 265/75/16 on stock suspension with some spacers and still have it look that good!

    Cheers!

Follow-up question - did you rub with those tires/rims before the spacers? So were the spacers a necessity or just a looks thing for you?

@TacoTaco15 No rubbing at stock height with no spacers, even at full lock. I got the spacers since I was planning on running 285's, but it just wasn't worth it for me.

    Same as everybody else...
LOL..I stayed in Rawlins when I was driving a box truck out to the west coast. It looks pretty much like I remembered it, stayed at a hotel that was so grifty I slept about the covers with my clothes on. Good times....

lol yeah there are some pretty shady places along the I-70 drive. We almost stayed at this "Budget Host Inn" in Columbia, MO. The "lady" at the front desk looked like a Stephen Gammell drawing with summer teeth... Here's the Yelp reviews for your entertainment:

Ended up paying twice as much at a Holiday Inn Express for piece of mind.

What did you use to paint your rims? I have same rims and have been considering buying black after market, but with your tires and paint job those wheels look nice!

Also did you have the tire off when you painted or how did you do it?

    Thanks and great post!

Have to ask about the ski racks, are the cross bars just folded in while the racks are still attached? Or is there a reason to run them sideways (hey, ya never know)?

@rottenpixies nice username dude haha! I just plasti-dipped them, however I'd advise against it. While it holds up to power washes and forest service roads, it's a pain in the ass to constantly touch up after tire rotations. I'll be painting them flat black (w/ actual paint) when it warms up in the spring.

First time I painted them, I took the wheels off the truck (but tires were still on rims) and masked everything off. Second time (after first tire rotation) I got lazy and left them on the truck, masked off lugs and behind the rims. Came out ok but definitely not professional quality

@Big Sky Country Yeah the crossbars are just folded in. The snowboard racks did not like facing the wind at ~80mph!

Thanks for response bro! Gonna paint mine when we get a warm day up here and been debating plastidip or regular rattle can.

Yea the user name has been what ive used since I was 16 (12 years ago). I think it was supposed to be my band name that never happened. Working on solo stuff these days so I guess I'll have to be The Rotten Pixie. To close to ripping off The Pixies though lol.
