I just got a brand-new 2016 Tacoma that has the cover installed, I read online that the bed divider will NOT work with this cover already installed, is this official??? I am hearing you would just flip the knobs to the underneath of the dividers bar?

I have the same question but with the Extang cover.

Here you go. The factory bed divider and the Extang 2.0 Tri-Fold fit perfectly together and the divider slides fwd to back between the Extang attach brackets with no problem.image.jpg

I'm new to the Tacoma world and I had the same question for my 2016. I purchased the OEM bed divider today and I can confirm that if you just install the rail bracket upside down it works perfectly with the factory tri-fold hard cover.

it still might not go all the way to the front as the part of the cover has a drop down where it is bolted to the side of the bed. I bought the divider and then took a trip, I wanted to push it all the way to the front of the bed and it wouldn't go. I just took it off and then laid it down to get a larger box up there. I will have to try it again with them upside down. Sounds like it might work. I have had second thoughts about buying the divider though. I think it is over priced but nice if you don't have to move it much. It costs too much is my only complaint.

Irchr - the cost was definitely a negative, but I wanted a better solution than using straps to keep gear and groceries from sliding everywhere and there isn't much aftermarket availability out there for 2016's - at least that I could find. I haven't tried sliding it all the way to the end of the bed (behind the cabin), but I think it would get within about 3". I noticed you can actually set the "L" bracket facing either direction and placing the shorter side towards the cabin should get you pretty close. Good luck!

There are these indents in the back of the F150 so you can put a 2x board in there. It makes for a cheap bed divider, and something similar could be made for the Tacoma if you're wanting a cheap option :)

I wish the 2016 Tacoma bed had the slots like the F-150 bed above. The Tacoma has the slots for a 2X6 to lay flat just level with the top of the fender-wells.

Just use some liquid nails and glue a couple of strips of something onto the side of the bed, and that can act as your indentation to hold the board like the F150's. You could use wood strips, or rubber/plastic, metal, but whatever you use just finish it nicely and give it a matte/satin black finish (or even spray with some bedliner) and it should match the bed pretty well  ... in my mind I think it could be done and look pretty decent, and you could just remove the 2x8 (or whatever, 2x10), whenever you needed the bed.

    Really...

I would rather spent the $250.00 on the Toyota bed divider.

Me too, but someone wanted something that was cheaper. Thus the solution that would maybe cost $15-20 and give you reasonable amount of functionality.

Not sure if it will help anyone but member unixadm suggested getting a bed extender rather than the divider. When flipped in, it will basically act like a divider. There's an AMP model for about $200 that there is occasionally a $50 discount. So would be $100-150 cheaper than the divider.

Not saying what to do, but I'm considering that option with a $30 cargo bar.

How do you remove the cargo divider? When it gets near the tailgat it seems to stop moving. Just got a 2016 with the divider installed.

Just wondering if anyone has ever considered a spray in bedliner such as Line-X or some such?

A bed mat is a hell of a lot cheaper. When I bought my truck I thought I would not need a bed mat and liked the looks of the composite bed. Thought man this is going to be sweet just to hose the bird droppings out. It did not take me long to buy a bed mat on ebay. Nothing will slide around unless you stomp on your brakes. Although I read someplace on here some dude spraying his bed with Line-X.

I'm going to buy a Undercover Elite this spring and a bed divider. My truck is a street princess so no need for a open bed.

Any step by step instructions on how to install the cargo divider with the factory tonneau cover?

From the looks of it, I might have to install the rail bracket upside down to make it fit with the factory cover.

    Please help....

Perfect $20 buck solution I use....

I needed something just to hold groceries/smaller shit in the end of the bed and
found that a "tailgate net" was perfect, it connects with straps and the screws that
are already there on the sides were, oddly enough, in the perfect spot on both sides
to connect it. When I don't want/need it there, it takes 5 seconds to release the
quick release tabs - the nylon straps weaves through those like a cycle helmet strap.

Here is a quick listing of instructions from what I recall:

    1) Remove the existing bed rail tie downs from the rail slides. There are four that come from the factory and I removed the two nearest to the tail gate. You can reinstall them after you insert the "L" brackets in step 2.

    2) Insert the "L" bracket that comes with the cargo divider upside down into the rail slide. Note that the "L" bracket can be inserted into the rail two ways. The turn knob would be located on the underside of the "L" bracket to get the factory cover to close.

    3) Insert the bed divider (large metal mesh piece) into both of the "L" brackets and then tighten it down with the turn knobs.

If you look closely at the pics above you will see the turn knobs located underneath the "L" bracket and a pic where the knob is located above the "L" bracket. To get the factory cover to close over the bed divider you need to have the knobs located on the underside of the "L" bracket.

    I hope this helps.
