Is that a short wheel base 911? Either way, looks like an awesome little project! Those things have gotten to pricey for my blood. I've been looking at a 997, maybe a GTS, perhaps in a couple of years. My wife likes the turbo model, but I'm a fan of the N/A engines and especially the GTS and GT3 :D

I like them all... but can only keep what I can afford... So 996TT is gone as well as the RSR replica we built...

Only have now non-running projects (reason for wanting to get a truck for carrying sh* around...) that I take the time to build for fun... I can't do bodywork, but engine, interior, etc. that I can do...

964 in garage. 996TT in front of photo...

Edit: The first, one on the trailer, is a 1967 912. The red convertible is a 1991 C4 with wide body (using factory parts). Last one is a 1981 SC that I am customizing with parts from different years and then some other parts like center filled through hood setup.... The rest are gone...

I have placed a lot of folks here on the ignore list... More so than in any other forum... Have not had the need to do that with BlueT. There is always some truth to his posts... To each their own, just my two cents.

    Back to normal programming...

@wachuko That RSR replica is the hotness. Ever since I was a kid I've wanted an air cooled Porsche, and as a teen I saw the prices bottom out. I remember 911 SC selling for low teens at one point, and now those have started rocketing upwards in price. I'm finally getting to the point of being able to afford some nicer vehicles (have a little more student loan to pay off ... so maybe two more years till it's time for a Porsche), but now all of the air cooled models are so damn expensive I question if it's not a better decision to just get a 997 ... Maybe I'll just have to be like you and try them all out ;)

Also, BlueT just gets tiring, the dude never lets up. He is in every other thread shitting all over stuff and it just gets old. Who has so much time to spend hating on stuff? BlueT, that's who.

Just noticed you're in Orlando. I went to UCF for undergrad. Go Knights >.<

I was using your logic. See how immature it sounds? you cannot bash on someone's truck and then say "no offence" and expect it to be all right.

moving along, tits, tires or tracks they all cost you money.

    I don't take any ;).

Honestly, like my original post said, my Ram and the others at work have been a problem at our location. Here's the failure list on my truck (2014 Ram 2500) in the first 70 K.

    Front wheel hub
Rear transmission seal (required removing the transmission to change)
Several times electronic control units failed related to the TPMS system, each time disabling 4WD while in the field (WTF?)
Front differential replaced within 5K of ownership, bad from factory.
    Numerous little electronic failures
New tires every 20 k because the alignment can never be setup right after the differential install for whatever reason...

Here's the list of things I replaced on my last F150 (2009) over 200k and and 4 years:
    Shocks....

    Here's what I replaced on the 4 months I worked for a company with a Ram 1500 (~2007ish)
Entire emissions control and charcoal system, at company expense because Ram claimed abuse even though the system FELL OFF. No break marks or broken fittings.

Christ, our Dodge happy neighbors came over to look at our 2015 personal F150 and told us we should of bought a 3/4 ton. WTF? I looked surprised and asked why. Because Dodge told them the reason their 2013 TRX Ram 1500 had so many front end problems was because it was too light to tow their 4000 lbs travel trailer on the highway. That's right. Dodge actually put that in writing from customer service when they tried to have it warrantied. The dealer told them they should look at a 2500 for that load... What a joke. I'll try to find it on their facebook but it was two years ago (in ten minutes I've got back to August 2015 on their FB so I'm giving up).

Now that's all my experence and it's from a keyboard.... however try to understand why I'm done with Ram/Dodge Ram. They just keep failing everywhere I turn while all my buddies with everything else big 3 are mostly problem free for at least 3 years.

    Edited quickly for spelling!

I realize what you are saying. and I would likely feel the same way.

I am by no means brand loyal. My entire family, inlaws, siblings inlaws, etc are all GM faithful.

I went out on a limb buying my 2012 ram sport 4x4, it has treated me well.
I have friends with Ram's and they are happy as well. One guy that works at the local pulp mill has an eco diesel that he put 87K on the first year, trouble free. those are hard KM's too.

Like I said I see all brands in the shop, as my employer owns ~100 trucks. Just in the last 4-5 years have we been buying Tacoma's. They seem to be doing fine, that's why I am looking for one, and a member of this forum.
The 2007 Ram's we had were worse than Ford/GM. But the newer (2009+) trucks have been doing quite well.

A good friend had a Ram 2500 and had it lemon lawed. Replaced it with a 3500 and also had that lemon lawed.

Maybe it's just bad luck, but it has left an impression...

Sorry, I had to go. The Rams replacement showed up. Like I said I'm switching companies so the old 2500 is going back to Agrium/CPS and the new 2016 F150 is my new work truck. 5.0 L package 302A. Sticker shows 51K but the Boss man had a 40K budget so it ended up somewhere just under their.

    IMG_0436.jpg
It's almost the same truck as my wifes... missing the remote starter though :annoyed:. I'll report back in three years on how both of them held up since, mechanically, these two trucks are twins.

BTW there is a toilet on my front step and cat house. It was a renovation holiday...

Your right about the parts failing. GM owners who have never experienced a Japan made vehicle think this is normal. Can GM make anything that doesn't leak oil? It is so bad, that I was in a GM dealer a wile back and they had oil pads under every thing on the show room floor. Brand new off the truck and already leaking? Why would you buy one? Every one I know who owns one is always talking about repairs or taking it back to the dealer for problems, when they bought it. This is not normal, but we have been raised to think it is.

Ridiculous to think the cars in a gm dealership are leaking oil on the show room floor. I have a leased GM cars been absolutely great. I would have stayed with domestic however I dont like the square wheel wells on the silverado and after test driving a F150 i realized it didnt fit in garage. Reason why i didnt stick with the colorado was price... The tacoma i ordered was under 30 with nice alloy wheels 4x4 dc v6, for similar i was looking at 34 for an LT. The WT had way less options then the SR... Dont knock the newer domestics they make good reliable vehicles.

Here are my options in Canada. 2016 sr5 access cab 4cly auto 4x4 Tacoma OR crew cab long box Colorado z71 4x4 loaded with heated seats, tow package, 3.6L V6, auto, sliding rear window, etc etc. They both run just over 300 bi weekly for 72 months. The 4.89% interest is spiking the payments on the Tacoma. I will wait it out and when the Tacoma has 0.9 or even 1.9 interest I will buy.

However if I needed to buy right now, I could not over look how much more you are getting in the Colorado for the same money as the lowest priced 4x4 Tacoma you can buy here in Canada. Saying gm vehicles leak oil on the showroom floor? What a crock of sh:t

If there is not a problem why have oil pads under them. Looked bad.

I just curious, if you hate Toyota's as much as you claim to, why do you continue to drive one? Sell it and get something you would be happy with.
