I've been stalking these forums ever since I bought my truck 9/21/15 but just joined up. Hello gents.

So I'm planning on getting new bumpers because plastic sucks. However, should I look to upgrade any suspension components with the added weight?

Love the look of the road armor without the brush guards on 'em, it'll probably be around June/July before I get the cash flow to buy 'em. Just looking for some insight beyond the bumpers alone.

    Thanks in advance.

I've been looking to do the same thing. If its a steel bumper I think the answer is for sure yes and if you go with aluminum maybe not. Aluminum is more expensive but when you add the cost of the beefier suspension required to support the steel the calculation looks a little better. Guess it all depends on what you want to do with the truck. If you plan on bashing rocks and stumps, mounting a winch, then steel armor and bumpers with beefy coils are the way to go. Mild trails, fire roads, and occasional difficult terrain then aluminum might be the answer.

Thanks, I'll probably go steel just for the durability. Can't say I'll be going through very technical trails but I just can't stand a plastic bumper on a truck.

I was doing a bunch of research last night and I'll probably end up buying a total king outfit for the front and rear along with some uca's and the like.

Buying the truck was probably the cheap part :p
