Right. Sorry. I had to redo the configuration before I bought mine.
    Let me do that. 2009.

The one in my truck looks like the VDO also. It makes all kinds of noises depending on the temperature outside and it doesn't really come apart like the factory blower. I looked through the service records from the previous owner and its been in there for a few years, about 50k miles. I'll be getting the upgraded Toyota blower soon.

So you have an aftermarket blower and it's no good?

Yeah, it's crap. It's not balanced properly so the fan wobbles but there's no adjustment and I couldn't get the motor apart without breaking it so I just blew the dust out and sprayed some lubricant into it the best I could. It was silent for all of about 15 minutes.

It looks like all of the recommended blower motors have terrible reviews on Amazon. Louder than the OEM blower motor and after a few months will start to chirp/squeak just like the OEM one.

I've pulled mine out three times and greased everything and it will not stop squeaking.... between the stupid fan and leaf spring squeaks I am ready to sell it.

Just installed the latest-gen OEM motor in our truck after watching the football game. One point I haven't seen made is that you'll need to retain the white plastic cable-keeper from the old one. No doubt about the bearing being the cause of the noise in our truck as I could produce the squeak just hand-turning it.

So this fix is not working for everyone? What's the deal? I was about to buy the grease.

The consensus has been that lubing the bearing/brass fitting fixes the squeak for a short time before beginning again. Peruse the thread for the upgraded blower motor to replace.

I'm showing the VDO for 80 bucks on rock auto and 65 on Amazon. But the screen shot on the last page shows 37 bucks. How much are you guys paying?

A lot of toyota dealers have them on the shelf since it's such a common problem. $120

I have heard that the oem just fails again like the problematic ones? Why are some saying the aftermarkets are the only solution? It seems no one agrees on the correct part?
For that much I will try my luck with the grease I think. If it happens again I can buy the new motor.

That might have been a few years ago. The last I talked to the parts guy at toyota he said that the blower has been updated 4 times since its release. The modern ones are supposed to be perfect
