while driving last night, the headlights turned off and so did the dash lights. The interior lights came on until I switched the headlights from auto to manual on position. The interior lights went off, headlights came on, and I was able to resume driving. I switched back to auto and the lights went out completely no daytime running or parking lights came on. Again the interior lights came on. I did have viper remote start added a couple of weeks ago. It was wet snow conditions outside. Upon arriving home, I restarted vehicle and the auto headlight function worked as it should. Any ideas out there?

Something didn't go back together correctly when you installed remote starter?

It's possible. The viper dealer that installs for the Toyota dealer I work at, is really good at what they do, so not sure where to start. I guess I could look under dash for something obvious. It has never done this before. I did have the blind spot monitor sensors replaced under warranty this week. Could be first year 2016 is gonna be plagued with electronic problems. Holding my breath.

Is it possible the snow was throwing enough light back at you to trip the sensor back to daylight and you went to manual on before it had a chance to switch back? That would suck of it was the case, but it would also have nothing to do with aftermarket electronics. I believe the sensor is on the passenger side of the dash.

No that's not what happened. All lights including the drl went out and overhead interior lights came on all by itself.

Take it back to dealer and tell them to check grounds etc, tell them about viper.

Or remove viper and see if it still does it

I'd suggest not running the lights in auto until it is fixed.

Guess my first and only thought would be go back to the source that installed the viper. They screwed something up.

This. Any problems that show up after a third-party install will be blamed on that third-party, real or not.

Best to wait until factory warranty is over, before doing mods.
