    Update time.

Stoked to say today marks 3 years since I quit. Can't beleive it has already been 3 yrs. Time to buckle down and re-affirm I will not pick up another cig, EVER!

To all who have quit or in process of quiting, stay strong! It gets easier with time, but at the same time, I realize that 'once a smoker, always a smoker'. There are still times I want a cig, and don't think that will go away, however no way will I put myself through that process again.

Congrats man - been over a year for me now and never going back. I too had trouble but used the Vapes, each time the liquid ran out I cut the nicotine dose by half - within 1-2 months I was on zero nicotine and then I was done. For anyone else thinking to quit, the vape helped me BIG TIME, stay with your particular exit strategy it does get easier as time goes by like the op says. I hardly think about them anymore and all that cash saved is going better places now :)

Two year smoke free anniversary in March 2016. Re-discovered my love of running and haven't craved a cigarette since going cold turkey.

    Congrats and keep it up!

Thats awesome for all of you who have quit. I'm an NP in Pulmonology and unfortunately most of the disease that I treat is smoking related. For those that haven't quit, I hope you make the decision and stick with the determination to stay cig. free. Its such a difficult struggle for many of you and something that those of us who don't know what its like can't understand.

I know a couple have mentioned the vapor cigs. There really have been on studies on them until recently, it was felt that if you're going from a cig to a vap with just water and nicotine that it must be better. However there is new evidence that is showing that these E-cigs still cause significant epithelial damage, damage which can still become cancerous, etc. Here is a link to the article talking about the study.

One day while driving to radiation therapy, I thought about the looks on the peoples faces in the waiting area at the clinic. I thought about how much a giant dooshbag I was for smoking on the way there. I tossed the pack out the window and never had a single puff since then. I am ten years out now and cancer free still. I will never let them get their hooks in me again. I smoked two packs per day for twenty years. goodLuck!
    $20.00 per day x 365=$7300 per year x 10 years =$73,000 saved as well

Now and then is one thing. I smoke about 10 of the cigarillos a day. Cheaper than 2 packs of Newports a day at least..

Plus I started working out and watching my diet about 18 months ago. Seems that smoking is counterproductive.
