what could cause this?

    sooo this is what the inside of my oil fill cap looks like. does this mean theres coolant getting into the oil?

    Reserected from the dead.
    Short trips that don't allow oil to cook off any residual water moisture. Its normal if you don't run your vehicle much.

    I'd guess yes. Looks like goopy mayonnaise...that's usually an indication of water in the oil.
    Coolant, condensation, something.

    I am guilty of short trips, good to know. I do seem to have coolant disappearing. cant see any external leak and I pass a compression test. so where could it be getting into the oil besides the head gasket?

    its cause short trips the engine doesnt get hot enough to burn out the condensation from sitting thats all no worries
    i see it all the time at work(dealer)and people freak out

    It's probably just condensation but if you want to know for sure pull your dipstick. If the dipstick is covered in the same gunk you have a problem.

    This is probably the seventh thread that I have seen on this issue.

    It's condensation on the cap. Nothing to worry about.
