Openly Revealing Yourself On Here (Somewhat) Law Enforcement

I never really understood why one would openly reveal their LE status on a public forum. I mean, worse comes to worse, your account and all its posts (opinions) can be subpoena'd in a character reference hearing for whatever reason. There are just too many anti-cop shit disturbers out there to be doing that IMO. What do you gain to have that badge icon in your profile? Do you wear your badge on your off duty clothes when your'e out in public? Be incognito my friends..that is all.

I'm guessing they're aware of the situation & the site is pretty strict on anti-cop behavior and I would assume limits the amount of what could be construed as bad cop mentality. But, I'd guess you do make a valid point.

I don't post my career for public viewing but, I'm happy to talk about it through PM. Mostly because I've seen dudes get their shit handed back to them at work for saying stupid shit on sites like FaceBook. BTW, I don't & have never had a FB or similar account for that and other reasons.

I'll preface this by saying I am not a law enforcement guy anymore, but I would hate to live in a country where we have to be afraid to tell people (or be proud of the fact) that we work in that field. I remember getting the phone call from a good friend that ISIS is urging lone wolves to attack former and current military. They even listed pictures of military soldiers with addresses on their website to help out.

Now people are ambushing cops sitting in their cars. Its a crazy world, but I would hope the great silent majority stand behind order and against chaos. I know I do. Blue lives matter.

It is unfortunate that we live in a world where stuff like this even needs to be posted. Though there are bad cops in this world, (they are normal people- are there not bad "normal" people?) the vast majority are not. Why people want to bash the police and hate on them for just doing their jobs (or being proud of what they do, in this case) is beyond me.

I understand OPs post to be more along the lines of compromising your position in court by being sujected to having your post on TW called as character evidence.

That said, other than TW peeps knowing it doesn't matter if cops post their career on TW or not. If a lawyer can get it to court it's gonna be in court either way.
