I was prompted to come to this forum and to make a post. I just purchased a 2002 Tacoma SR5 and will be doing some modifications to it after the seasons. I'm planning on throwing on a K&N Cold Air Intake, not doing the deck plate mod.

Thanks everyone! I just posted on a thread about debadging my truck and ghost imprints and how to get rid of them without having to get a new paint job

I had a TRD filter (similar to K&N, washable) and found that it made my MAF dirty which made my truck run like crap. It's worse if you travel in dusty conditions. In fact I was off-roading in the Mammoth area one time on roads that where white-powder dusty and that's when I threw a code. I came home and cleaned the MAF sensor and cleared the code and it didn't come back for a long time.

I recommend doing some research on that and if anything else, save your OEM intake in case you end up not liking the K&N. I've been using the factory setup (with an OEM filter) ever since and have been happy.
