    Ehhhh...how about this rant:

    Buy to fit your needs whatever they may be. They all have trade offs. Fox and SAW finish sucks and is more susceptible to rust. Not the best choice for those living in a salt-belt or coastal area. King and ADS resi's are aluminum and expand at the same rate as the IFP and are more susceptible to hydrolocks. Icon's top hat design historically sucked as and the OOTB valving is brutal on-road and are more susceptible to ratting the passengers fillings out.
    They all have their own niche benefits too. King and ADS shims are damn near indestructible. ADS finish is awesome. Cadmium plated AND a ceramic clear coat. Icon's bypasses don't need any tools to adjust. Icon, King, ADS always pick up the phone and support is top notch. King and Fox have publicly available shock blow up diagrams so the backyard rebuilder doesn't need to worry about mixing up the order of the guts.

    Here's materials as I understand it (2.5" shock body only...don't ask me about 2.0's because I don't know...or care):

    Shock body:
    King - Low carbon DOM steel (1026)
    Fox - Low carbon DOM steel (1026)
    ICON - Low carbon DOM steel (1026)
    ADS - Low carbon DOM steel (1026)

    Resi body:
    King - Aluminum (6063)
    Fox - Low carbon DOM steel or Aluminum depending on generation
    ICON - Aluminum (6061)
    ADS - Aluminum

    Dust cap, resi end caps, and spring seat:
    King - Aluminum
    Fox - Aluminum
    ICON - ????
    King - Aluminum

    Shafts:
    King - Chrome or chrome plated steel?
    Fox - Alloy chromed or stainless chromed depending on size
    ICON - Polished nitrosteel
    ADS - Choice of hard chromed or nitrosteel

    Shims:
    King - "Unique stainless steel alloy"
    Fox - Sandvik 20 steel
    ICON - Sandvik 20 steel
    ADS - ?

    Piston and IFP:
    King - Aluminum (6061)
    Fox - Aluminum
    ICON - Aluminum (6061) - 2 Piece dished piston (the dish preloads the valve shims creating a digressive dampening profile)
    ADS - Aluminum (7075)

    Other notes:

    King and ADS also both use a bronze wear band.
    ADS has a standard additional o-ring groove & seal on the middle of the piston under the wear band. This creates a better seal against the inside of the shock body. This is an option/upgrade for King.
    ICON is the only one that really requires a special tool to charge some of their shocks. Some use a hypodermic needle charge port. The rest of the manufactures all use a standard schrader valve.

    they took some time to fit with sanding and whatnot and i had to make a lower bracket to secure the fender but im happy with them. It was a task to actually get them after i paid but the product itself was great.

    My bad, let me clarify.

    I know a lot of people with factory fenders that have a few inches cut out of them to keep them from contacting tires under suspension compression. My fenders contact my tires when my suspension compresses, which could be fixed with me cutting my fenders. Pretty common fix.

    When I say "glass" I mean "fiberglass" which is the normal construction material for "flare and rise" fenders.

    This is for anyone who reads the previous posts and are confused.

    I've seen them with both. You can convert the needle port to a standard schrader. But in the end, I don't know what configuration ICON decides to use the needle vs schrader.

    Interesting...my old ones were steel.
    Do you have a source...or confirmation that you put a magnet on it and it doesn't stick?

    Edit: Was looking out on fox's website. It looks like the CDC resi is aluminum. Standard resi just says "alloy" like their shock bodies. Which is a steel body.
