I always considered long travel, extended uppers and lowers..

everyone's idea of long travel is different. the dudes that have trucks with 22+ inches of travel in the front, probably think a 3.5 kit that pulls 13 inches is still a mid travel kit...

    LOL.

I never really understood the 2 inch wide kit either. but I can understand not wanting to run glass and I have seen people cut enough to get by without rubbing.

with or without fiberglass fenders, you still need to cut...

I'm not taking it personally just saying that you guys shouldn't be so quick to make a judgement. And what bad information did I pass along? That my 35s fit with little to no rubbing?

And I agree they aren't worth it if you are trying to romp the shit out of your truck and get the most travel. But IMO this kit is the best out there for where I need to go. Shit at least it's not an all pro kit!

If you cut, tubbed and "clearanced the shit" out of things then they don't fit. Cliffs point was you need fiberglass UNLESS you cut, seems pretty simple to me

Very True, ill give you that one. The issue is I can pass judgement because I rode that gravy train for a couple of years so i know what I'm talking about. Its not just internet research and hearsay, I wasted a ton of money to experience it first hand and I'm trying to help others from making the same mistake I did.

Saying you fit 35s without rubbing on stock fenders is like saying Barry Bonds hit 762 home runs without using PEDs. You did a shit load of trimming and hammering to make it work, so they're not really stock anymore..

Haha I never said you could fit 35s without modifying the fenders. I said you can run 35s and a +2 without needing glass.

I'm not arguing about anything, just chimed in and said my 35s fit without glass, just a lot less sheet metal. Why would you ever run glass instead of clearancing your fenders?

Oh well that must have been a misunderstanding. Cause I meant stock fenders as in "not glass", just stock fenders that have been heavily modified but not swapped. Guess I didn't make that clear but obviously I don't think 35s fit with no trimming of the stocks hahaha

Never heard of those out here, only on the east coast.

I would never make that decision based off of "mud flap laws"

No mud flap laws here in TN. Shit, there's a bunch of fuckers out here running x14's with 2 inch spacers so that they have "stance"

this is a real thing, and people get pulled over for it all the time. If you can keep your tires tucked inside the fenders you can usually get by without issue, thus the reason for glass

Interesting. Well I haven't had or heard of any issues in CO, my tires stick out a bit but only thing cops have ever bitched to me about is window tint.

What do you mean by clocking? When I clocked mine I pulled the top cap and threw it on the lathe.

If I was looking to romp with a midtravel kit, I but wanted stronger lower arms, I would probably go with a +2 kit with boxed arms rather than pay for upgraded (boxed) stock length midtravel lowers. So I could see why someone would want to go +2 kit without going full blown 3.5 kit if thats not what they plan on using their truck for.

I know Runner, post: 11566477, member: 86546"]You, have the Solo kit, correct? Have you cycled it to see if it gets the advertised 11.5"?[/QUOTE]

Yes It have cycled it too many many times and I do get the full 11.5 **but If you are 4x4 you do need to add a small 1/4" spacer between the OE Lower BJ adapter and the bottom of the spindle to lift the CV away from the top of the LCA. This allows all of the droop travel to happen without the CV smashing into the LCA. Pretty common issue with 4x's and kits that have the uniball in the LCA it seems. I have seen a lot of people with nice rub marks from either their CV boot clamps or CV's rubbing on top of the LCA. I did not realize how much travel that robs you of until I added the spacers Solo provided me - instant 2" inches of droop added. Non 4x4 with heim steering you could probably get more than that ? the CV is definitely the limiting factor in my case it binds well before the CO is fully extended so I have it strapped to protect the CV.

One problem I ran into with the Solo kit is that the lower CO tab on the LCA is super close to the CV boot, even with the nice SDHQ cv boots I had to scrunch the boot up to keep it from molesting the shock tab at droop. So far no problems...but time will tell.

can also be for functional reasons. you don't need to worry about it, but in areas with lots of sand (west coast and southeast), you can do some serious damage to your paint. when I wheeled in florida, after a higher milage or higher speed wheeling trip, most folks on the trip would have to re-paint the bottom of their sliders, simply due to the quite literal sand blasting they just received. now imagine that same affect on your door panel paint because you didn't have enough tire coverage.

similarly, when I'm our crawling, I usually have my windows down. no fun getting a little tire spin and catching a chunk of mud or even rocks straight to your arm, hanging out the window. some folks have even broken the glass on their side view mirror from shit flying out of their tires.

The remote resi exits go out to the right and left on either side (driver vs. Psgr) and hit the uca, I need them to go down. But it hits the shocks cap when I try to go down with them.....?

He may mean clocking the actual fitting for the resi hose coming off of the top cap or off of the resi itself. I had to do that with my first set of Kings, King uses NPT so you can't just turn the fitting to correct any weird hose or fitting issues/angles. The angle they had the fitting and hose at got rubbed by the UCA really bad at droop. I had to get completely different hoses and fittings from Crown to resolve the issue I had.

Yeah my sliders definitely feel the full force of kicked up rocks on the road. I paint them usually like 2x a year. Paint doesn't look great either, but I stopped really caring about the paint a long time ago luckily hahaha. When I go to the car wash I only wash off suspension and undercarriage haha
