I want to thank everybody for the tremendous response to my vinyl tailgate inserts! Since I introduced them on November 1 (the first to appear on eBay), many other vendors have stepped in and are offering similar products. Some are vinyl, some are plastic, and there are now some stainless steel versions. There are also many price points, from $15 to over $80. I urge everyone interested in these to please check the products before you buy. Most of the vinyl sellers are using Oracal 651 or equivalent. This is the lowest grade economy vinyl available for outdoor applications and will show signs of peeling, cracking, and shrinking in about 5 years or sooner. My vinyl is Oracal 951, which is the highest performance grade outdoor vinyl available is rated by Orafol (the manufacturer) to last 10-12 years when vertically applied on vehicles.

Also check the precision of the letters. Below is an example of a competitor's letters (red) vs. my letters on the quicksand truck. Note that my letters match the curvature of the stamped letters perfectly while the red letters have square corners. Also note the overall poor fit quality of the red vinyl within the stamped letters.

Several of the eBay sellers show only very low res images of their product so it is difficult to see the details that I have pointed out. Please make sure you know what you are buying before you part with your cash!

Curious on how red letters on black would look. The DB Customz grille insert with red lettering looks mean on black.

 

Red would also complement the taillights. I have Tomato Red in stock if you want it. I also have reflective red.

 

Do you have a picture of the colors? I assume removal is also easy if I don't like the appearance?

 

Removal is very easy. I had to replace 1 letter. Put some heat on it and it peeled right off.

 

I don't have pics of the decals on the truck, but here they are compared to the red on the TRD stickers.

So here's the matte black decals and the anthracite decals on my black taco. I only did the "T" and "A" letters . Matte black is hard to see from a distance, while the latter definitely stands out more ! I did a very sloppy job guys. It was freezing cold outside and has no acces to a garage. Take a look ...

Right on! Hard to get a good idea with one letter done but I can already tell me likes.

 

Yea for sure, having them all done would of been sweet. Even with just this though, I already know that the anthracite is the one I want! Which one do you like??

 

I like the matte. I like a more subtle look
Im looking at these for wheels so i might even think about the this brownish tinted matte finish to compliment them.

Im not a big fan of fuel rims but these really stood out to me. EXACT colour and finish I'm looking for..

 

Yes, I have reflective black. They have satin/slightly glossy finish so they will be nearly invisible in daylight on a black truck, but super reflective at night.

 

Yea I see what you mean. I like how the matte black graphic looks surrounding my hood scoop.

Here are the black decals during the day and at night. The black vinyl has a satin finish while the red and blue are glossy.
