Nobody knows or says anything about the 1st gen recall for the frame that toyota will replace for free? I'd say talk him down get it for 3k take it to toyota have them inspect it get a new frame put on and sell it for 10k and get a better 1st gen or put a bunch of money to get it running brand new and lift it with bumpers and such :D

Now on something like this it all depends if you have the skill and place to do the frame repair .

If I could have bought that truck for $2500.00 or less I would have grabbed it

I do think the Warranty frame repair date has passed on this one.

Frame recall is most likely expired on that truck.

I believe it is expired. Isn't it supposed to be like fifteen years? My 96 was past it when I got it. Thankfully, it appears to be largely rust free.
Good luck on finding another one, OP. Hopefully a better deal arises on a truck that doesn't have frame issues.

Frame recall has expired. First thing I looked up when I started researching this one.

I actually found another one today. 2000 access cab with 136k on it. New wheels and tires. Body and interior are in great shape.

Now on the frame. This one has been lapped all the way around. I don't know if thats proper terminology for automobiles but that's what we use for the barge industry.

Original frame is in place but has been plated from bumper to bumper on both sides of the frame. I will get pictures maybe tomorrow but more than likely next week.

I think the guy is looking for around $4k for this one too.......

Thoughts on that kind of work to the frame?
I know pictures are really needed to answer this.

Depends on just how it was done. If the person that did it got all the major stress points done correct it should be fine.

As long as it passes inspection in the state you live in should be a good start.
