As already known and many posts on this issue, 2nd Gen 2009-2011 model Tacoma's equipped with factory DTRL's are notorious for their melting lenses. Toyota issued an Extended Warranty for this defective headlight issue which expired November 30, 2015. We currently have a 2009 Toyota, less than 50,000 miles, and noticed early December that both headlights are melted and cracked. Took vehicle to Toyota dealer on Dec. 16, 2015, and the dealership ordered headlights without any questions. However, when headlights came in and we took vehicle for installation, we were told that the warranty expired. Continuing to work on getting new headlights installed. Corporate is now stating that they will pay for headlights but we must pay for installation of $295. Any details on this issue since the warranty has expired will be appreciated. Toyota knows this is a headlight failure, known fire hazard and risk but choose an expiration date. Although Toyota claims they sent notification, we did not receive any notification on this issue. (We have received notification on the suspension issue that has no resolution at this time, however, this will be next to address.)
