I agree that the typical buyer probably won't have an issue with it, I would. If I'm hauling my dirt bikes out to the middle of Barstow, Glamis, Ocotillo or Plaster City, the last thing I want to be dealing with is unloading the bikes when I'm already pissed off about a flat tire 50 miles from the nearest town. With the luck I have, I'd probably also get a flat helping my grandmother move her furniture from Lake Isabella to down here. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be dealing with it then either.

Yah, it's a lot about image and macho. I see trucks with tow mirrors they keep them extended all the time, not even towing. I guess they think it makes their trucks and them look more macho.

So the long bed on any of the Tacoma, Frontier, Colorado have a bigger bed in total area and all appear to have a deeper bed than the Ridgeline...

Just look at the late 90's F150's....engine and frame dimensions haven't change all that much over the years....why the need for huge cod piece grills now?

Late 90's F150 was a sleek front end. I don't like a hognose grille, does nothing for engine cooling, only meant for "Hey, look at me! I'm driving a truck!"

Sure, long bed. Apples to oranges the Ridgeline actually has better bed management. Flat bed you can fit 4x8 sheets in flat on the bed. Ridgeline "short" bed is longer than the five foot Tacoma DCSB by four inches. Bigger cabin. Has a secure bedtrunk. Interior load can be fit under the rear seats. Flat rear floor for better load management. 400W inverter.

Don't sneer at the Ridgeline. It's a nice competitor to the Tacoma. The only thing the Tacoma does better is offroad and most Tacoma owners don't do that. They lift them for looks.

I totally get it. My point was more that the Tacoma offers more versatility with different bed lengths. I couldn't get by with a 5 or even 5.5' bed. The 6' is bad enough. Same could be said about the bed trunk. The Ridgeline definitely has a reduced size spare. That's a dealbreaker for me. The trunk is nice, but sacrificing spare size and ground clearance isn't worth it. The interior space would be nice though.

It all comes down to personal preference and how you use your truck. Seems like the Tacoma is more off-road, Ridgeline is more for daily commuter with occasional Home Depot run, Colorado with Duramax is more for towing, Frontier is the budget truck. All have their plusses and minuses.

Seems to me the Ridgeline jumped into the work truck category with the square bed. Now the Ridgeline will have tonneau and toppers available. Just have to get the spare out of the underbed to make it a work truck. I saw bed mounts are available, can even put the donut under the rear seat.
