Swapped fact. Radio with nice Kenwood double din and have created a little rattle. Not a big deal but rattles bother me. I have checked ac control pack that pops out easy and new double din dash kit fits fine. I have taken out ac control pack , new double din dash and drove around with basically just radio mounted and it still makes a little rattle. Anybody ran into this?

Which Kenwood did you go with, and which dask kit are you using. I just installed a DDX393 with the Metra kit and I have a huge gap

Make sure you reuse the clips off the old surround. I believe they are yellow.

So you drove around with the clock/alarm/airbag indicator unit removed? Do you now get an airbag warning light?

Hey Mitch I used the same kit and I have the excelon ddx492 Kenwood. I had to get longer bolts so
I could put washers behind them to make the radio sit more out from the dash. I also used the
factory side plates from my old radio to mount new 1. Mine was to fair back and when I put face
plate on it didn't look right. I had many hours of trying different washers and such to get it right.

Oh yeah, 10-4 on the yellow clips from old radio. New ones fit way too snug and it's not necessary.
I had to take face plate off and on numerous times and I lost 2 of the clips that came with kit. Found
out y factory work fine and don't pop off. Oh and no on the airbag warning light.
When you plug clock back in airbag light resets.

I ordered a new Scosche to see if that helps. Otherwise I will go with the longer bolts and washer idea. I too have used the stock metal side pieces to attach it

Would it be possible for any of you to post before and after installation pictures? I have an '09 Tacoma, and am starting to wonder what options I might have for radio replacement as far as a double din one goes. I'm just wondering how it all looks once switched out. I did a search for it prior to posting, but most posts deal with the newer model, not the older ones.

thanks for any suggestions or thoughts (if there is a thread dealing with options on suggestions that work and how they did it that anyone has bookmarked, I'd appreciate a link if at all possible).

BTW, I used the link in the last post (scoshe) and that looks awesome. How can you then determine what radio would fit in that harness for use in the truck?

You used the stock metal side pieces with the Scosche kit? Doesn't the plastic ones that Scosche came with slide into the front face?

As of now I'm using the plastic pieces that came with the kit. I have it clicked in on the left side but the right is sitting behind the face plate. It doesn't fit 100% but like 98% correct. I'll try and fix it later

I got mine in tonight. I used the plastic as well and it seems pretty solid.

And you were able to snap the pieces together and then get the radio in?

Yup. Didn't realize you needed to mount the brackets to the face before install. I thought you mounted the head unit and then put the face on after.I did slide the head unit forward a bit to make room for the wires. It helped a ton. I can't get the small trim piece on though but I'll mess with it more when it's actually warm out.
