I'm going to re-play all three as soon as I get back! I already Ebay'ed the crap out of them.

I played the first, but haven't played the second or third. I hear the third become more of a shooter than scary.

I wonder if the filter is put on it before the engine is actually in the truck. When I rebuilt my engine, (2.4L, in a 1996) the filter was put on with the engine still on the stand, so it got put on very tight, even though it was done by hand, because it was easy to get to instead of the limited movement you have when under a vehicle. So it was very tight. When I did my first oil change at 3000 miles, it took me like 45 minutes to get it to come off! Tried a strap wrench, a giant set of channel locks, and the screwdriver trick.

Grabbing the filter in the middle of the body is the weakest, worst spot. The crown of the filter is the strongest area, that's why when you see these tools that are recommended they all lock in at the crown/top of the filter.

Yes. I realized that after I fought that filter forever... after I had destroyed it.

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
Aint far from the truth. Factory filters are put on by assembly robot, hence the reason the P/N doesn't match up replacement filters from the dealer. The casing is thicker, to withstand the assembly torque.

Godzilla does work for Toyota, but it's used to move full vehicle chassis between different shop levels:

Anyone do an oil change on the newer Toyota cars? My son's Corolla & friend's Camry have a cartridge type filter that had a plastic cap that you remove to access the filter. I used a pie wrench on the Corolla, but with the Camry I gave up & bought the special wrench from O'reileys. Its like the cap type, but has grooves on the edges that catch on the tabs on the oil filter cap. Even after loosening, I still had to use the tool to unscrew the cap all the way. I think the o-ring on the cap prevents it from spinning freely. PITA.

I'm the luckiest guy around. Did 1st oil change on my '15 Tacoma PreRunner 4.0L at 2600 mi. Cap type tool spun it off w/o any effort.

Yes it works very well, and yes of course I replace the O ring. But I find the locking tab to be a bit of overkill, as I doubt the cap will come loose even w/out it.

He works for Ford too. Most Fords I have owned required the screwdriver through filter method. Not sure why so tight from factory.

I'm gonna guess the oil filter gasket is not lubed before attaching to the engine.
