The 2016 Tacoma is a nice space to occupy for the commute. Average tank mileage has ranged between 20 and 23 miles per gallon depending upon how much city and highway miles are combined. The engine and transmission are constantly trying to find the lowest RPM. You get used to it. You can disable the transmission and engine struggle economy with the ECT button.

Freeway gas economy at 55 to 60 MPH can be as high as 28 mpg. Yes I know, I drive it like a grandpa. That is because i am one. Guys slow down and enjoy your ride.

In the cabin the user interface parts are good quality. All instruments are well backlite. The blue lighting is very easy on the eyes.

No regrets so far. I loved my gen 1 SR5, this one is a step above. However she was about $15,000 more.

I just got home from a trip myself. Same mileage as yours. 700 miles, V6, automatic, SR5, crew cab, 2 wheel drive. Average around town prior to the trip was 20.7. Was expecting the average to be better after the trip, but finished up at home tonight showing average 22.4. No resets on the average by the way. That was sense new.

On one shut down at McD's I seen 25.7 for the last 115 miles in the center window thing. Suspect the average could have been in that range if I had reset the average before starting the trip.

I always stay within 5 mph of posted speed limits on cruise control. The cruise kept "kicking down", I call it, just about everytime going up even a small up hill grade, then hold the increased rpm to long after back on level road. Didn't like that. Is that normal in yours to? I have a new Avalon also, V6, 5500 miles, it never has done that.

Can anyone explain what is happening with the ECT bottom?

Really like the truck except for that cruise thing.
