Hello group. I just joined up. Im 43 and since I was able to drive I have wanted a Toyota pickup. Unfortunately, I had to settle for a Nissan, which was a great truck for a 19 year old but wasn't a Toyota. "Back in the day" Toyota pickups were the truck to have!

Anyway, FF to 2016. I have owned quite a few vehicles, but never a Tacoma. Jeep Wrangler, GC, F150's, Yukons...but NEVER a Tacoma.

For fun I run dual sport/adv trips on motorcycles with my current ride being a KTM 500EXC. My kids are getting older and my riding buddy/19 year old step son is joining the military. I want to continue the trips and my best trip partners have been my family, so I am looking to get a Tacoma so I can bring my 9 year old son with me on these trips.

So far I think I have narrowed my search down to a 2012+ 2nd gen Tacoma DCSB (did I get the acronyms right?) with TRD. I think I would want the locking rear for the types of situations I might encounter out here in the west.

Im looking to do some reading on the trucks here, learn some stuff, and be part of the community.

    DAVE

Welcome. Lots of info on here, just about ANYTHING you might want to know. Sounds like a TRD Off-Road might be what you are looking for...

Can't wait for you to finally jump in a Toyota. Hopefully you'll like it just how you thought you would. Welcome to TW. You'll find all the information you'd ever want here and then some, and if you can't find it, you can always start up a new thread and ask away. Show us pics of the new ride once you get it

Thanks! I think I will like it. I sad in a 2016 and noticed my head pretty much touched the ceiling. Im only 6'3" but have a long torso. I did some checking and the Gen 3 got a little bit less headroom and no adjustable seats so thats one of the reasons why I am looking at the Gen 2.
