Need some opinions on wheel spacers. Have my set of stock directional Tacoma wheels that i would like to mount some tires on. They can work but the factory wheels have 4-5/8" back spacing. I need 4" of backspacing with my lift kit. Iv read that a lot of Tacoma, FJ and 4Runner owners use them, but iv heard some negatives on using them and that there not recommended. Lowrangeoffroad.com and Wheelersoffroad.com sell them. Was hoping some of you guys who run them can offer up some tips and brands.

Best brands that most guys in here recommend are spydertrax and bora.

I was actually going to mention BORA. Found those guys last night and like them because you can get a size down to 3/4" i think and there hubcentric.

Now with hubcentric spacers... Does the spacer fit tightly on the hub and does the wheel fit tightly on the spacer? Or are they pretty loose? In loose i mean does the wheel just fall off the hub when you unbolt it.

I can only speak on the Spidertrax as I've had them on two different trucks. Loved the way they mounted and never had an issue. Two things I've seen over the years with spacers to keep an eye out for if you ar considering smaller than the 1.25" Spidertrax.

    1) with the 3/4 spacer, you may have to cut back your studs so they don't protrude into your wheel mounting face, preventing a solid / flush mount.

    2) with the 3/4" spacer, if it utilizes the factory studs to attach the wheels and the spacer is strictly a spacer (doesn't bolt to the truck studs and likewise doesn't have its own studs for the wheel to bolt to), you may run into an issue with not having enough threads left to mount your wheel to safely.

Ok so bora is the only company I found that offers a full warranty and also insurance if they where to ever fail and cause any other damage. They state though they do not have one claim like that and never had any issues. They make each order custom to your needs. They are also hub and wheel centric. So they are designed for direct perfect fit for your setup. As far as the 3/4 issues I would call bora and ask what the options are for smaller spacers. They have awsome customer service. With this all said you get what you pay for. Bora is a little more expensive than spydertrax but not by much. And spydertrax does not offer the free insurance and they have a limited warranty.

I've been running 1" trail gear wheel spacers for over a year now. No issues.

I've been running 1.25" Spidertrax hubcentric wheel spacers and they've been great. Just torque to spec and I retorque them every time I balance & rotate my tires. I have them on all 4.

Do the wheels fit snugly onto the spacer like traditional hubcentric wheels? Like do you have to beat them a little to get the wheel to off?

Yeah they snug and no wierd vibrations or off feelings when you're driving. I honestly can't tell they're even on there except my tires stick out farther.

Thanks for all the replies guys! I think ill be going with BORA. My biggest concern was that they will still be hubcentric to prevent an out of balance situation.... Currently dealing with that issue

What? Are your tires out of balance because of wheel spacers? Or you just want hub centric spacers so you won't have any trouble with balancing? The Spidertrax spacers are hub centric. I have no balance problems and haven't heard of spacers causing that issue. But it sounds like you want that full warranty & insurance bora offers

I currently have aftermarket lug centric wheels. I dont like them and im having a balancing issue. I still have my own Tacoma directional wheels the I just repainted and want to mount a set of tires on them and use those because they are hubcentric. However I need to use spacers to make the wheels work and was concerned that using wheel spacers will make the wheels no longer hubcentric

Oh. I wasn't aware rims were lug centric or hub centric. I had my stock wheels, then I bought some cheap $60 rims off of craigslist. Now I have these Method brand rims and I've only had the Spidertrax wheel spacers on my Methods. No balance problems ever.
