hey everyone i just got my first yoyota tacoma its not new its a 1998 4x4 but have not found peace"

    I am having a hard time clearing the cat monitor everything welse will clear and I cannot register it in my name. I have disconnected the battery I have cleared the scanner. no check engine light. truck runs perfectly I have already done the druive cycles along with 1500 miles and nothing, im running out of money and time please help me out and help me . I will be very gratelu and send a starbucks gift card as well. I know how to appreciate help when I get it. marincito@Hotmail.com

    but in all seriousness. youre just not performing the prerequisites needed to clear it.

    but first, is it not completed? or is there an error?

    if it's not completed, just follow some simple steps to complete it. im actually going to be needing to do these as well since I just replaced my battery and the catalyst and evap havent completed for me.

    Maybe it's time for a new cat. I assume you're talking about the catalytic converter.

    no, this is a self-diagnostic issue. his ECU hasn't completed the catalyst monitor. and thereby isn't smogable. he needs to know how to force it to complete. the link I gave him has the exact driving patterns he needs to perform to complete what hes looking for.

    I know with mine even trying the procedure to run all the test cycles the one for the cat can be stubborn at times.

    The trick is to not clear the codes after you start I see people do the dumbest things get all the tests run and decide to change the battery .
