Any suggestions on replacement for a 2010 TRD OR Key and Key FOB -- the wife lost a set in the snow. Still have 1 original Key and FOB, as well as Valet Key.

Is there a more economical way to replace other than going through the dealer? Any idea on costs to replace? I'm guessing $80 to $100 for the key (laser cut/chipped?) and $250+ for the FOB? Maybe I'm wrong.

I got both for under $150 at my dealer.

Gracias. Was that the "homie hook up" or regular price for a new set?

    Regular price.

The fob was the real bitch, I think they got me for $135 or something.

But it wasn't my money to pay for it, so eh.

I bought a set on eBay for about $20. I have a friend with a tool that programs the ecm to accept the new key. The fob can be programmed yourself very easily.

Was wondering if I could buy used and take to dealer (or somewhere else) to have programmed. I don't know anyone with a tool so....kinda rules that one out I guess.

A locksmith or a mechanic with the right scan tool can do it. I think it was a snap-on solus something that he used.

I bought my '09 TRD OR with only one key and one fob, so the dealer threw one in. My invoice was $350 for parts and programming (before they zeroed it). My truck has the immobilizer.

This sounds closer to what I was expecting if purchased through dealer.

if you know about where they are in the snow...place a craiglist ad for someone with a metal detector to go sweep for it. offer 50 bucks for a find. cheaper right?

My wife's rav4 has the key and fob together in a single unit, wondering if I could replace the set I have. Any experience? My unlock buttons are pretty worn out.

Thank you for the tip. His website does not seem very informative on which one I would need to buy for my particular vehicle. I also looked on ebay but it is not clear which one I would need to purchase. I like the idea of an all-in-one fob with flip key

Local locksmith supplied the key and programmed it for $75. Bought the fob on eBay for $25 and programmed it myself.
