    Hey guys,

I am new here. here's my 2016 TRD OR DCSB. This thing is fully optioned, dealer was driving it as a demo, it had 400 miles on it.. It has prem and tech pckg, tinted windows, paint protection pckg or whatever. I have added a few mods already. I want to get seat covers and floor liners. But not much is out yet for the 2016. I think the new model sits pretty high, so I don't think I want to lift it.

I probably screwed up not getting 4x4 but I don't really go on bad roads and it doesn't snow much here. I love this thing, but I can see a LB 4x4 in the future.

What would you guys do next as far as mods go?

If you are already thinking about a 4x4 long bed I wouldn't do much for mods that can't be carried over to another model such as seat covers and floor liners.

Welcome and good luck with the new truck. I thought when you have the "TRD off road" decals that means your truck has the 4x4 package. I wonder if the dealer stuck them on there after they got the truck. Because I would not go off roading with a rear wheel drive only truck.

Negative. Both TRD versions are available in 4x2.

Wow, how about that. To me off road should mean off road capable 4x4.

Congratulations and welcome! Get some Bilstein 5100s and All-terrains on that bad boy. I have 2WD also and mine crawls through some nasty stuff. The prerunners can hold their own with good tires on them.

From my limited knowledge, 4x2 is common in off road racing. Google baja 1000 4x2. The origin of pre runner is to pre run the off road race course I think.

That's right! True 2WDs (not 1 wheel peel) do decent off the pavement. They don't get enough credit sometimes. Only exception is the suck factor on ice and snow.

A truck toolbox in the bed is always helpful to stow gear inside, particularly the dirty big stuff you don't want stowed inside the cab. My last two Tacos had them and I plan on getting one for the new truck. The 2nd gen box will fit the 3rd gen so it should transfer to a longbed if you eventually go that route. Even though it takes up a bit of room on a daily basis, it only takes me and my son 5 minutes to pull it out if I need to haul something that requires the whole bed.

You can also look into a bed extender if you haul alot of things in that short bed.

Just a note. I bought a bed mat for mine. It REALLY helped having things STOP sliding around. Mine is a short bed, but I am sure this is the model for the long bed. Someone; plz correct me if I am wrong so the OP has the proper one ...thx.

Edit: I thought OP had a Longbox. Here is the proper link to what I bought. Amazon says it will not fit a 2016 shortbed; Amazon has not updated the specs for these as I mine fit perfectly.

My mods so far are sill guards, mud guards, wT sun shield, WT license plate holder black. I want to get some seat covers but don't know enough about the brands yet.

Hey check out my first Toyota, bought this in midland, TX in 1982. Named her ole beige. It had 300K on it when I gave it to habitat for humanity as a donation.
