Post your BLACK 3rd Gens

Shouldn't take them too long to get the black ones for you, mine just arrived, took them 3 weeks to come in.

 

Hey guys, completely new to the site, joined when I bought my 2016 TRD Sport long bed and saw this thread and wanted to contribute.

 

Welcome ! Not all that many of us brave enough to go with the black paint... the more the merrier ! Great looking truck !

Thanks guys, can't beat black when it's clean, but I've quickly noticed that you can see every single spot where it's been touched and every spec of dirt lol.

 

No color shows the flaws like black but no color reflects or has a deepness to it like black. That trade off is worth it to me.

 

I just like a black truck haha

 

And why do you like a black truck ? Because it looks great ! Why does it look great ? Highly reflective and deep color !

 

Even when it's dirty I like the black haha. Idk, I like a dark truck.

Does the black paint have a sparkle to it if the sun hits it at a certain light? My 2002 does, It's still quite sparkly actually. I noticed the MGM has it on the 2016's too. I just have not seen a black 2016 up close yet.

 

If you mean, does it have a pearl finish, no... it is pure black. If you mean does it shine and reflect when the sun hits it, hell yes.... like no other color.

 

It's not a metallic paint. But it sure is pretty

 

I strongly prefer non-metallic paint. So much easier to touch up and also easier for body shops to match it up should you ever get in an accident.

It's color code 202 which is the same deep black from years past.

 

here's mine with both logo & bezel blacked out. I was thinking just the logo
like you did but really like both done.

 

I've been thinking of blacking out the bezel. Did you paint it or just use plasti dip?

EDIT: also are you lifted or just tires?

 

dip, wasn't sure how I'd like it, turned out nice though. I figure if/when it
chips or peels I'll pull it apart, sand it and paint it.

no lift, just new tires, crazy how much it looks lifted now, wife asked
as well when she first saw it. 265/70/r17 BFG KO2's, ride great, minimal
sound difference, slight mpg difference but so much win with the new look
over those tiny stocks they put on. The stock tires on my 2011 were just
as tiny looking.
