A buddy of mine has been looking for an almost impossible to find model of Tacoma. He wants a 2005-2010 Prerunner, Access Cab, Sport model with a 6 speed manual. I owned this exact truck about 8 years ago, and have seen one or two for sale since. There are plenty 4wd models like this, but almost zero Prerunners. If you have one or see one, let me know. Thanks

This is the first time I've heard of someone not wanting 4wd.

I didn't want 4wd in my 15. It is a pavement princess and will see only occasional off-road duty when camping that can be handled by 2wd easily.

Not wanting 4wd is not the same as not wanting to pay for it. If there are lots of 4wd trucks out there that are otherwise what a guys looking for, I can't imagine holding off for that elusive vehicle. At least if you go for the more popular style you can choose one that's been babied, well maintained, and a fair price.

    This.........this is madness.

I didn't want 4wd when I was shopping. Because I don't need it for how I use the truck. Simple.

So now you've heard of 2.

But keep in mind, there are thousands of others out there.............

And hey look, it's number three! 2WD suits my needs just fine. My truck was right next to a 4X4 for right around same price. Just don't need it right now.

    When I need it, I'll buy a 4X4.

OP, good luck finding your truck!

Yeah, we're in Socal so basically no need for 4x4. I am the same way though, I have always owned 4x4's but never used it, so I prefer a 2wd truck now.

To be fair, truck purchases can certainly be made simply on what one wants over what one needs. Case in point, a large majority of truck owners don't actually need a truck, rarely if ever use it in a way that only a truck could get the job done, and a lot of peeps modify it to basically function as a car with horrible gas mileage (or then there's the highway pounders WITH 4x4, 35" mud tires and 6" of lift, all to stroke their ego). So certainly anyone who gives you a hard time for not getting 4x4 could likely be given a hard time for even buying a truck they don't "need" but just wanted. Ha

I've pulled out full sized pickups in a Subie, and it doesn't snow much in Cali.

Every single day, I even check all major cities millions of miles away just for the fuck of it, still nothing. As far as distance, I know he doesn't want to drive too far, but if there's something worth it then maybe.
