I actually think the floor plate is a good idea. The wear on the carpet in that area, even with the vinyl mats, is absurd. I assume it would go underneath a cover, or be a substitute for those foolish enough to drive without mats. The detail is funny though, and the thought funny as well: damage your carpet by screwing through it and permanently marking it with this neat metal rectangle that you are using to prevent damage to your carpet.

The floor plate is actually kinda legit. My heel ruined my first set of floor mats after just 40,000 miles.

I've never seen that website until today but it seems like the Chinese knockoff of Amazon. Am I right?

The site is more like the Chinese knockoff of Amazon Marketplace, and you buy directly from the sellers in China. Shipping usually takes a month unless you pay extra.
