Hey guys! I own a 2009 Toyota Tacoma, V6, Dbl cab. I recently noticed that i am only getting roughly 70 miles per every 1/4 of a tank. Is this normal? Thanks.

All gauges vary, some may be spot-on at 3/4, another spot-on at 1/2. Most will have a gallon or 2 even when pointed at "E", and most fill be 1 or 2 shy of truly full when at "F". Try filling up when at 3/4, 1/2, 1/4 and see what the pump says. Toyota says our trucks hold 21.1 gallons.

To really know what mpg you're getting, fill it full (1st click off by pump), zero one of your trip odometers, and hand calculate what pump divided by trip mileage equals when you fill up the next time. Do this for 3-4 tanks and average. If your "normal" driving, ie city vs highway changes, it will also change your mpg, as will winter/summer gas, average temp, use of A/C, and phase of the moon(kidding about the moon). Fuelly.com is an easy way to keep up with it by tank.

X2 - I have had some 'quarter tanks' last a ridiculously long time, and other go ridiculously fast. I'd rely more on the above method than how many you think you're getting per quarter.

Calculating by 1/4 tank guesstimates is what isn't normal. It's why EPA estimates don't read MP.25T. Or even MPT. :D

Do it this way and you'll actually know MPG.

Once that info is in hand, you'll be able to look at dozens of threads here and decide.
