This is kind of an individual subject that you can't go by what someone else says. But for what it's worth, I don't particularly like the seat or the seat/ steering wheel relationship. it seems like the notches on both the back and forth and the tilt are too far spaced to get just where I want to be. The steering wheel is too far away, I feel like I am reaching out. (yes I have it telescoped all they way out). But that is just me. While I am knit-picking on unimportant stuff no-one else will probably agree with; the high beam dimmer lever is just a bit too far away from the steering wheel.

Hey CaliJoe: Welcome to Tacoma World. There's a ton of good information here. I wanted to mention that you have stumbled into the 3rd Generation forum which is specific to the 2016+ redesign. You would have better luck finding info to help you out with your 2007 in the 2nd Gen forum (still here on Tacoma World). I'm sure you are not the first one to have this problem, so folks with 2nd Gens have probably found a few ways to deal with your seat issues.

    Good Luck!

The first 2016 i test drove was a TRD sport. Driving it around, I didn't really love the seat comfort, but i don't think i adjusted the driving position enough to get in the most comfortable position.

Then i sat in a 2016 limited, and it was a complete night and day difference. There is a lot more padding underneath the thigh area, so you sink in a little and it feels great. i ended up buying a limited and have 800+ miles on it. the seats still feel great. ride comfort was a little more important to me than having all the off-road capability, so i went with the limited.

I'm 6'2", 240lbs. I find the driving position to be fine. The main gripe I have is that the leg room is a little tight - I wear boots to work, and I have to finagle my legs when i'm getting out of the truck to avoid kicking things. Once i'm in the truck it's fine. (I don't have this problem when i'm wearing regular shoes)

I had a 2012 and now the 2016. The new seats have a huge improvement in the thickness of the padding on the back lower area about where your pants belt rests. In my 2012 I could feel the frame of the seat in that area. BTW, I use 0% lumbar.

In the 2012 I felt the seat bottom was a little longer giving a little more support in the knee pit area...however, I've not measured the difference, it could just be feeling different to me. Not that big of a deal to me.

I have the limited and the leather is starting to soften up and feel more comfortable and I've only got about 600 miles on it. My wife's Highlander was the same to me but took a little longer t start getting cnfortable.

I did notice that in the 2016 I have to have the seat completely to the rear where in my 2012 I had my seat one notch from the rear.

I am 5'7". Drives 1 hour to work, then back. 1500 miles on the truck. I cannot find a comfortable driving position. Back hurts after every drive am and pm. We have a 2008 Highlander and a 2002 Corolla that I both drove (at different times) across the country - no problem.

With the Tacoma I need height adjustment (which is non-existent). When driving, the available positions to me are (1) similar to sitting on a chair that is too low, hence my knees are bent awkward for lack of leg room and my back straight so I can reach the steering wheel, or (2) push the seat backward so the legs has more room but the angle of my back in relation to the seat is too acute, or (3) angle the back of the seat but then the steering wheel doesn't offer much adjustment.

I've got just over 3500 miles on mind. I make quite a few trips that are an hour or more and have done a couple that are 4+. It's been great and I've got no complaints.

I've already taken it on a 990 mile road trip, done in a single day. I'm 6'4 and it's very comfortable for me. I don't even have the seat slid all the way back; usually that's the first thing I do when I sit in any car.

I will say in the test drive I was very concerned with the seats in that they felt too hard and shallow. I'm not concerned anymore!

Easily the most comfortable vehicle I've ever owned. I literally just completed what ended up being a 5000 mile road trip in two weeks before I started my new job. Literally took off the day after I bought it and I never once had a sore back the entire trip. It usually takes me a while to get used to a new seating position where I don't get sore quick. I was able to adjust to these right away. Everyone is different though.

There is no right or wrong answer to your question. Everyone is different. What feels good to some will feel bad to others. I would say in general the seats are too stiff for people who have lower back problems.

no. I traded in my 15 Tundra crew. seats were much more comfortable. But that tundra seats was about the best ive been in for sure. You sit different and seats are not as nice. Don't know if it is just firm and harder or both position and height combined. As stated everyone is different. I have gotten more used to mine and am now at 2300 miles and 1 month into ownership. I driver 40 miles one way to work daily.

Definitely not as comfy as my FJs seats, but still the FJ has been pretty much sitting for the last 2 months, so I guess it ain't too bad!

(I really need to put a touch screen stereo w backup camera in the FJ, the Tacoma has me spoiled)

The only real complaint I have about my truck is the seats. It needs a height or tilt adjustment. I asked Toyota why the Tacoma is the only vehicle they sell without this option, they said maybe it will be added next time around (aka go away, leave us alone). So far I've had two people drive my truck and say the average wooden park bench is more comfortable.
