Well, I'm planning on LEDs in the fogs to run along the low beam HIDs, I'm just a bit unsure about the HID wattage I mine. I don't want to be blinded by them in the fog I have around my house, so that's why I'm thinking 35 watts. Doing a bunch of searches, it seems 55 watt is too much in most cars, I just don't know if the Tacoma projectors are in that category.

VLEDS suggested to me to go 25 watt 3k lumen fog lights. Morimoto has an amber sleeved option, which is the correct color for the best light in the fog.
I put the 55 watt in my Harley and with 2 headlights 2" apart I got nothing but complaints from riders in front of me being blinded in the mirror reflection, and that was in daytime

Used the stock grommet and zero shakes whatsoever.

After I adjusted the beam of the light lower, I notice a little shake. Hope this helps.

Hmmm interesting, I wonder if the adjustment screw mechanism messes up with the projector enough to leave it lose (?) so that we notice the vibrations. I have not adjusted mine, they are as it came when I bought the truck.

Okay, so I got the new grommets in the mail today. Here are my thoughts...

Initially, upon feeling them I was not very optimistic. They are identical to the old ones, but firmer.

In both pictures, the old grommet is on the left, new one on the right.

However, compared to the grommets on the stock bulbs they are still pretty soft.

    20160119_121615.jpg

You can see just by looking at them that the stock grommet is a much denser/harder material.

Compared to the original grommets that came on the HIDs, as I said, the new ones ARE firmer. You can see in the following pictures...
    20160119_130342.jpg

I laid a knife across both grommets. In the first picture you can see how much the old grommet flexes, it really just folds right over while lifting the other edge just slightly off the table.

    20160119_130356.jpg

In the second picture you can see the grommet actually lifts off the table rather than the edge folding. The edge did flex a tiny bit, but you can see that the new grommets are clearly firmer.

Upon putting the new grommets on the bulbs I found it much more difficult to get them over the ridge at the base that they lock into. I was happy to see this as the old grommets were so soft/gummy they would just pop right over it.

Upon putting the bulbs back into the truck I found what I was hoping for... they were MUCH harder to put back in than they were with the old grommets. With the old grommets the bulbs also had some play if I applied a little pressure to the base. With the new grommets the driver side has none at all and the passenger side has just the SLIGHTEST bit (my passenger side was always looser/shook more than the driver side for some reason).

The real test will be tonight when it gets dark of course. However, I am very optimistic about these new grommets. I still feel they could be a little firmer (again, comparing to the stock ones), but I think I'm just splitting hairs at this point. I'll report back tonight with the end result after I go for a drive in the dark.

Well, I just went for a ride. Unfortunately, the grommets didn't fully fix my issue.

On the driver side they did, I couldn't get that light to shake even when I was driving over sewer lids and small potholes.

The passenger side though still shakes. It shakes a lot less than it did and with it being the only one it's also less noticeable but it still shakes.

I'm interested to see what others experience since as I said earlier, my passenger side bulb was always looser for some reason. I think I may try using both grommets to see if that works. With as squishy as the old one is I'm sure it'll fit

Do you feel it's possible to put the bulbs in with grommets that are even stiffer and/or bigger than the ones you just tried? Might be good feedback for TRS. Perhaps just a little bit more along the same fix path would fully resolve this issue?

Yeah, I'd say stiffer. Thicker might not fit. The stock ones are hard rubber, almost like a bouncy ball kind of hard. Theirs are like rubber o ring material which leaves room for a little play. But again, it fixed my driver side so maybe my passenger side headlight housing has a slight defect in the mounting

Aside from that random issue on the passenger side as you mentioned, it sounds like a winner. I'll get them on order to get here for everyone else!

Just to reiterate: we do NOT have the grommets yet. There were samples distributed. That's all.

As soon as I have an idea of when I will have these, everyone will become apprised.

Can you also let us know when the new grommets are included in the actual HID kit? Been wanting to purchase, but was waiting for the shake solution.

You can probably cut out gasket/grommet out of cereal box and place under rubber grommet

Is it a random issue or still not 100% fix from the grommit?
