Well the tire was replaced and what a complete shit show with this same tire shop again! Going to be a boring read but here's what went down..and I need to vent.

Sunday afternoon: Went in and brought the bad tire with the rim to leave there. The assistant manager said no worries a new one has been ordered and that it would be delivered Monday morning first thing, mounted by noon ready to go out the door and I can stop in at 5pm and the wheel and tire can be installed on the truck in 10 minutes. Fine with me, the shop is on the way home from the train station and I can stop and be home by 5:30pm. Perfect.

Monday 5pm: I stopped in and said I am here to get the wheel and tire installed per the assistant manager. Guy went in back and said that the tire was not mounted on the wheel and that it could be ready in 1.5 hours..here's where geekhouse starts getting upset. I said ok, fine. They were a little busy so I said I can come back to pick up the wheel and tire and have it installed then. The guy said they would call when it was ready to go.

Monday 7:40pm: still no call. I called in and they said it was ready to go and to hurry as they close in 20 minutes..I'm a 5 minute walk from the shop. No big deal and I head over to the shop to pick up my new wheel and tire. I arrive to find out that the tire is NOT mounted on the wheel. They asked me 2 or 3 times if I had the wheel or if they did and I had to physically find the wheel myself. Then come to find out they couldn't locate the 285 Trac as they only had a 265. Great. Are you kidding me?? After about 20-25 minutes of searching, they finally found the 285 and we are ready to have it mounted and balanced. Tire was mounted and balanced and Caitlyn was running outside ready to go. The time came to settle up and the manager came out from the back and dealt with me personally. He asked how my experience was and so I was honest and told him what happened. I also mentioned the last time they had the vehicle, they purposely damaged one of my TPMS sensors because I didn't want want to pay them for new ones all around when the sensors I had were perfectly fine and only had 8 or 9k on them. He apologized to me and I walked out paying $75 less than the cost of the job performed and a coupon for a free tire rotation. He offered to have it done then and there but it was already almost 8:45pm and I wanted to go home.

All in all, it took longer than anticipated and it was aggravating how much the communication suffered at my disposal. I am currently looking for a 285 tire in good condition that I can pick up used hopefully from Craigslist to mount on the stock Toyota steelie as a second spare. I would have continued on my way to the offroad park if I had another spare on me. I won't run 2 spares on the truck 24/7, but I will pack it up with me on longer trips and definitely to the offroad park.

Time to focus on the shackle flip and shock relocation!! :headbang::sawzall:

I bought one of these instead of a second spare tire. Much better deal!
