    Hi everyone,
My son just opened a mechanic performance shop and I want to buy him a truck. He needs a truck to tow, once in a while. Let's say once a month he will tow a car to the race track or a car to his shop to fix.
I want to get him a Tacoma because it could be his daily driver and tow once in a while. How do I know what used truck is strong enough to do so ? Any recommendations? I know we can get a Tundra, and I still may have to, but the Tacoma seems like a better daily driver if it can tow once in a while without troubles. I am willing to pay 20K or less hopefully. Please help this idiot out!!

Use market? $20k down maybe on a new. All the trucks I see performance shop use are big trucks with their advertising stickers all over them.

I would say to just find a good tundra, a tacoma could do it, but he might find the limits of the tacoma alot sooner and need to upgrade.

this depends on 2 things: type of cars being towed (i.e. 1600lb smart car, vs 5000lb F150), and terrain(i.e. flatland is much better for towing than ,mountains)

most people forget to calculate the trailer weight into the total they will be pulling. Car trailers are heavy (atleast the good ones) and will take up almost half of your towing capacity alone. If he's towing vehicles your going to want a fullsized truck at the minimum
