I've got a 2006 Tacoma with 120k. Just curious if anyone has ideas on how to reduce engine noise. I hear a pretty loud chatter as I accelerate. I was thinking it was the lifters and did an engine flush treatment and put an oil additive in with the the oil. I've driven maybe 15 miles and still hear the chatter.

If you have the 6 cylinder there are no lifters, just overhead Cam on Buckets.

These are noisy engines and also have a timing chain which is adding its own noise to the mix. With 120 K on the mileage I wouldn't worry about it.

You could go with a high mileage oil that is thicker and that may quiet it down some.
