Hey guys, I think tacos are quite tasty:D The truck is not bad either. I drive on the dark side in my Frontier though, seriously they are both awesome trucks. I need to pick the brains of some of the gen 1 Taco experts.
I recently discovered that the gen 1 Taco, gen 1 Tundra, and gen 3 4 Runner stock coilovers fit our trucks (Frontiers) once a Titan swap (cheap bolt on mid travel setup) has been done. The only thing that is needed to be done to get them to fit is swapping the top hats. They are the proper extended length with the correct stroke. What I am looking for is guidance in choosing the best strut for this application. I am not interested in rebuildable coilovers, more so OME Bilsteins, Eibachs?, Pro comp, etc. At the moment I am running stock Tundra Bilstein TRD off road struts and springs, others have tried various other Tundra struts and springs but the issue is we are getting a little too much lift (about 4" over stock) and the ride is a bit firm (6xx lb/in spring rates), hence me reaching out here. Ideally we want a combo that will provide about 3" of lift with a good ride. Looking at some of the springs struts you guys have available what are some of the mushy setups and what are some firm ones? With the leverage advantage the titan swap provides I'd imagine that to the coilover it feels like a heavy armored up taco (not to mention the Frontier is heavier on its own).
