Cross bars for basket

I'm looking for a set of "low profile" cross bars to mount a basket on my camper shell. I tried it on my OEM luggage rack but with my bars on the rack, the basket will not clear the garage door. I think it will work if I can mount a set of bars directly to the shell. The lower the better.

 

have you looked into voodoo fabrications crossbars?

 

Didn't see anything on their site for mounting on top of a camper shell.

I'm pretty sure @DefconBrix has FR racks on his roof and bed cap.

 

I already have a low profile basket. Just searching for some cross bars.

 

What about just mounting it to the shell? Use 3" flat stock to spread the load. just a thought without seeing the project.

 

I'm going to talk to a fab shop to see about having something made. Maybe just some square stock about one inch off the top of the shell.

 

Hey, on somewhat related topic Does anyone know if the Frontrunner SlimLine II roof rack fits the Gen 3 roof? Seems to be an amazing / sturdy / low profile basket / rack.....

 

I've seen 2nd gen OEM roof racks on the 3rd gen, so I can only guess it's the same roof. Though I suppose if you have a moonroof you'd have to call Frontrunner and ask if there is any interference with how low profile it is.

 

Thanks. I've learned from the manufacturer the rack will indeed fit the 3rd gen and will clear the moon roof. They say the roof unit is the same. Thanks much.
