Well I just bought a '05 Toyota Tacoma, my first truck, over in OH and drove it back to CO. I want to do as much of the work on the truck as possible, because well mechanics are expensive. On the drive back to CO there were a couple things I noticed and need to get fixed any advice would be appreciated:

    1) The gear shifter seems sloppy in comparison to other trucks I have test driven and driven over the years. I was wondering if there is anyway to tighten it up? Or is this a transmission issue?

    2) The exhaust sounds hollow when I accelerate, do I need to replace the entire exhaust system? Or just a piece of it?

I appreciate all the help and I am happy to be a truck person now.
