I went to Kendall Toyota to get a quote on some Ko2's and the parts guy pretty much says he's not sure and they probably cost about 300 a tire for 265/75/16's. I asked if he can be more specific, he said he didn't have time at the moment and didn't seem to want to help me, so I left. I seriously do not like Kendall Toyota anymore, I sometimes wish I didn't buy my truck from them but where else would I get a new Toyota, Anyhow...

300 a tire is a rip off when I indeed can get them cheaper on tirerack. But with shipping cost it brings me to about 1100-1200 shipped for all 4 tires which pretty much cost the same as the dealers price of 300 a tire. That's just insane. Does anyone know anywhere I might find a better deal?

First off, don't even go to your dealership for tires. Period.

Secondly, $300 a tire is about $100 or so more than you can get anywhere else. Seriously, go find an Americas tire, or Discount tire (same place) BigO, ANYTHING is better than a dealer. The 315/75/16 KO2s I'm looking at are about $212 a wheel from Discount Tire. That's not including mount and balance and all that, and insurance for each tire. Which, come to think of it, in the end it might come out to about $300 a tire to get them on the truck ad insured (for 5). But I stand by my word, dealers suck, they're out to get your money and DGAF if there are better deals.

I have had my tire dealer for close to 25 years .

When I get a price for tires it is out the door .

Shop around close to where you live .

I think paying shipping for tires unless they are very unique is a waste of money.

Agreed. Most of the time when you buy tires online, even if its free shipping, you're gonna get charged extra at most tire places for mount/balance. And come on people, I don't want to hear about how your homie hooks you up on mount balance, that's great for you, not the average consumer. Most tire places will work with you on M&B if you're buying a whole tire set. If you walk in with money to spend, they will usually do whatever they can to throw some rubber on your truck.

One can never have too many light bars.
Most shops will carry Ko2's its an incredibly popular tire. Go on yelp and find a family owned place in your area with good reviews and decent pricing.

Installed Cooper At/3's (265/70R16) and ProComp 7089 Rims. Tinted front windows. Did the Fog Light Anytime mod. Did the tailgate mod. Added running boards. Adding sound Deadening from RAAMaudio. Replacing stock speakers with Polk Audio DB6501's.
+1 to the "family owned". I have been going to a local shop here since 1978. Their prices have always been close (and sometimes better) to what you can get off the internet (including shipping, mounting, balancing, etc..) but the report you build up over the years can't be beat. Any problems at all, they take care of it. I don't even bother going to the shop on Saturdays anymore, you can't find a parking place or a place to sit. :)

Awesome, I'll definitely have to shop around. I'm going to try American tires on Friday first and see what they can quote me.

Forgive me for not knowing this crap, I haven't needed to buy tires yet.

So the main problem is Mounting and Balancing right?
So why not just buy the tires and mount them at home. Then go to Americas tire for free balancing?

I found a set of 265/75/16's on Amazon with Free shipping for around 800 dollars, which is super good in my opinion. I was shock that they would ship it for free but apparently amazon prime now includes a lot of Alaska/Hawaii shipments.

Anyhow these are E rated tires and weight a hefty 53+lbs. The only C rated tires I manage to find are in 265/70/17 which are close to the height of the 16's but only weight about 45-46lbs. I really don't feel like going with 17inch wheels since I really want the set of Konig countersteer 16" wheels.

Hmmm... decisions decisions. I wonder how the E rated tires will affect the ride compare to the C rated tires. I really don't see myself needing the E rated tires. Heavy tires will hurt the MPG more, although I know I'll probably lose 1-2mpg with these tires I rather not lose more since I drive 32miles to work and 32miles home everyday.

Looks like you figured out where most of us Alaskans get our tires on your own. Amazon Prime is our friend. I also had the same experience at the dealership. The guy didn't give a shit enough to look up the price on some Duratracs I wanted, just threw out $320 as an arbitrary number. Ordered them off Amazon and had a local shop install for $80.

Again, can't express enough how shitty most dealers are. They are in the business of screwing people out of as much money as possible. Have definitely come in to my local dealer with multiple quotes for work from other shops AND farther dealers and the dealer near me won't even price match, they just try to BS saying those aren't real quotes or to just go to those shops then. Have had enough warranty work done with dealers to see how much they try to nickle and dime people.

20160119_190504.jpg 20160119_190521.jpg I finally got my wheels and tires installed, Definitely went with the KO2s in 265/75/16 with some Method wheels. Yeah they are heavy, I can definitely feel the weight but they look sweet as hell. I love it. Best part, in total it only cost me about 770 for tires, 634 for wheels. 1404 in total! Plus I sold my OEM Rugged Trails for 280 bucks! Thats 1124 for new tires and wheels! Best part I didn't have to pay shipping.
