Protection from what? Being seen? If a car hits your tail end those aren't going to help.

Do you guys even know what these are? There smoked tail covers for people who are into smoking there tail lights instead of painting them.

I know they are plastic covers for your tail lights that snap on which I assume is much less permanent than painting your tail lights. What I don't believe is there is 0 pictures of any 2016 tail light covers for the Tacoma on the entire internet as far as I can see, so I am seeing if anyone has seen or ordered anything like this. (Also, If you don't like this look for your truck or these type of products feel free to ignore this entire thread...:crapstorm: )

Back when these were the rage, in the mid 90's, all the ones I saw fitted with double sided tape. And from a fit and finish perspective, were about the grade of a mid 80's Mustang. Not to mention as easy to steal.

Things must have improved a bunch in the last 20 years if they fit well enough to snap on!

According to LUND's AVS website, that part number (33418) is only applicable to the 2016 Tacoma, so they seem to be correct.

If you're into that sort of thing.

Maybe "I know" was a little strong of a description about these "snapping on," I "assumed" is probably a more accurate description. :p

Someone else posted a pic of these once they were installed. Figured it would wrap this thread up if anyone stumbles across it.

I think its still better to be able to see them in an actual picture than a random chevy stock photo. Then make your own decision (Which I won't be ordering these)

Im on board with the murdered out look, not cheap plastic crap look (I realize those overlap sometimes). I think if they come out with a smoked aftermarket tail light like on the 2015 OEM SR package I'd bite. Those were subtle enough to look really good but not attraction police attention for dimming your lights too much or have tint that looks like crap in a year or two. Even the LIMITED has a lot less red in it and looks better.

To each their own. I also like a less "red" and more smoke/dark tail light. Also liked the BHLM for the fronts. Not sure about these covers tho

Probably why I dont care for the smoked is that my truck is Barcelona Red so they blend more. Always go for smoked lenses on my Harleys.

I could see that on a red truck, where mine is gray so the red stands out badly.

Just have a body shop mix some clear with a little black to the tint of your choice and spray them. As long as they are prepped good they will look factory and will last a long time. Cheaper usually too
