OEM replacement. There are many manufacturers, just dont skimp.

Also might want to replace the spring clamps with some good hose clamps. If there is a BMW dealer nearby, get some BMW part #07129952104

I don't want to go cheap on the radiator, manly because of the AT cooler in the bottom. I don't want that to fail and get the dreaded pink milkshake.

I was thinking the same so googled the PN and only got online stores. Went to KoyoRad.com and the PN for the 01 Tacoma was C1755.

So searched Amazon and found this:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...rue&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=AM36U8UAVEWII
Both are sold by the same Amazon seller "KoyoRad" Not sure what to get :notsure:

You still have your turbo setup on the truck?.

If so,, go OEM Chris. One of those important heat controller parts I would not hunt down at the junkyard or go cheap on.

Everyone(those on here excluded) thinks that a rad is just something dumb that just takes up space and can burn oneself if not careful. That little sucker takes alot of warpage/expansion abuse from doing it's job,,for it's entire life. It's amazing that they last as long as they do. When one adds extra flashes of heat thru the rad from a loaded hot boosted hill pull,,it's working double time, outside of the design parameters for a few minutes lets say.

Easy to add a external cooler to avoid the pink milkshake. If I would have went the auto route, it would have been done years ago.

I know those are spendy pieces and money can be tight right now. Better to be able to keep moving and stay warm then to have issues,,especially right now back east with the blizzard crap.

I can't quite afford OEM. Koyo has very good rep so I feel safe with them. I have an external cooler but want to keep the OEM cooler for when I'm crawling over rocks all day. Unless I put a fan on the external cooler, the trans fluid can heat up pretty quick.

I'm not too worried about heat flashes as water has a very high specific heat. Turbo won't be boosting much beyond 8-10 PSI so nothing crazy.

all metal is my recommendation--only because I am OLD SCHOOL--plastic will break or crack-eventually.

Alum is more efficient. Problem solved. About a pound heavier and was available on Amazon in 2014,,,the other was 2012. For whatever that's worth.

Cu is better at transferring heat but it has to be painted to keep from oxidizing which reduces that benefit. It also has an issue with galvanic corrosion. Alu doesn't have galvanic corrosion issues and is lighter but generally more expensive.

The Cu KoyoRad looks all metal but I don't want it to corrode from the inside out; especially the trans cooler. I believe the 4runners had such a bad issue with galvanic corrosion b/c they used Cu core for the rad or the heat exchanger. The C1755 aluminum has plastic ends.

I purchased my 2000 4runner roughly 5 years ago with a leaking radiator from a customer at my work. I ordered a Denso radiator. I was surprised to see that the Denso is made in china. I installed it then i installed a B&M external trans cooler to avoid the "pink milkshake". So far no issues.
