I have a 2015 MGDC TRD Off Road with 6,000 miles on it that I'm thinking about tricking out. I could sell my current work in progress which is a 78 Ford F150 short bed with big block V8 and 4 speed manual transmission. If I sell it I'd have roughly 6 grand to put towards a lift and tires, rims, and accessories for the yota. My question is what's a good way to go? I won't be doing any hardcore off road with this truck since it's brand new. It will mostly be sand and light trails. And no offense but I'd rather your opinion be from YOUR personal experience. Don't just restate the norm "blocks suck" stuff. I've jumped full size trucks on 35s 3-4 feet in the air on 3 in blocks in the rear with no issues. Just saying... I'm posting the pics of my project ford and my yota, should I sell the ford and lift the yota, or keep the ford and keep my yota stock? Please post pics! We all love them! Thanks guys...20160123_155337-1.jpg20150527_131921.jpg20160123_155337-1.jpg 20150527_131921.jpg

If your just doing light OR'ing the Toyota is capable of that straight out of the box. Up grade the sound system in the Toyota and bang the Ford.

My ideal set up would be a worry free 3in suspension, mud/all terrain and black wheel. And some kind of roof rack or something for my kayaks.

Keep the Ford and do small mods to your Yota when you can afford to. I dig Ford trucks of that vintage.

Nice looking trucks! I'm going to black out all the chrome on the ford, which will looks sick on the flat dark earth paint. Just got the truck back from painter today.

You could jump a truck with a solid rod in the suspension instead of a shock, its just not going to fell good lol

Haha True, but guys on here sometimes act like if you use a lift block in the rear the entire truck will self destruct!

Like someone else mentioned, the taco is already capable of light wheeling. I would not sell that ford. I like old fords and you can always add to the toyota over time. I think if you sell the ford, you'll wind up regretting it down the road.

Thanks for the input. I traded in this beast for my yota. Half the weight, twice the gas mileage, same if not better off road capabilities. 20150420_192603.jpg

I would keep the Ford. As long as you keep it at least as nice at it currently is it won't depreciate. Lift your Tacoma and sure it will look cool but it's going degrade the ride quality, lower your gas mileage, and ultimately narrow your field of prospective buyers should you ever decide to sell it. That said mine's lifted a little... But I no longer have my lifted FJ40 so I wanted a little more off-road capability and a slightly more aggressive look.

Those were some of the best trucks [minus the horrid emission laden low compression stock engines] Ford ever made. Still miss my 79 Bronco with the [redone] 400, C6 auto and NP205 with the 9inch rear and 44 front. Just a very mild lift and 35s and very capable off road though a bit big for narrow trails. In 1980, Ford, IMHO, ruined then completely for off road capability.

Keep the ford. You'll regret selling it. That truck looks to be in decent shape.
If you did sell you might get get sellers remorse. If and when you go look for another, you won't find one as good looking.
