Agreed - but the issue is easily solved - cut bigger holes in the bed mat to allow spacers to be used between the d-ring and the bed. The mat will still be held captive by the -d-ring flange.

If you were to use an extra spacer like a nut, with a very large flat washer. You could torque the bolt down using the nut as a spacer, but the large flat washer would prevent anyone from removing the matt from the bed.

Precisely, I did a mild body lift, made sure my bolts could be used for that and torqued them into spec.
Have fun fighting the thievery. (3+years and not an issue and I haul a lot of heavy ish, and do a lot of hard wheeling)

If they are extra bed bolts just for holding the mat down then torque holding bed to frame is completely irrelevant to keeping the mat in the bed.

Just installed this $35 dollar cruise control kit off of Ebay. Had an issue it didn't come with instructions. I also ended up robbing the ground wire from the old wire harness connector and installed it to the new connector for the air bag. The other issue was the plastic molding around the stalk wasn't correct for my model, but you can use it as a template to drill/file a hole. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjoTus5q5p0

Anything for suggested "emergency" tool kit, some basic tools that go a long way? Looking to build a box for when I go out, I.e. 3/4 deep socket with 1/2 in drive and a breaker bar for lug nuts (working off memory)

I can't believe the stuff, I and my wife have stored in back and under the seat! It's gotten to the point if there's an extra water bottle or tennis ball. I can't move the seat back after my wife uses it because of all the stuff, jams the track! Purchased a used plastic truck tool box off of Craigslist for $30. Best investment I've ever made!

Purchased a Mcgard 76029 Tailgate Lock and realized it's body was a hair too tall. Instead of returning it I ground off the top part of the body w/name an 1/8 of an inch and a 1/8 of an inch off the bottom corner heal. This allow enough clearance in closing the tailgate without binding. Also installed two plastic tie wrap in each key hole, so it makes it a little more difficult for thieves in removing the tailgate support cables.
