I have been trying to find the right tire for my 2016 Sport. I have been all over the board from new rims to stock rims to spacers. All trying to get the right fit. I really like the KO2's and have discovered you can fit the 275/70/17 on stock rims with no rubbing. But the weight of 55 lbs just won’t cut it for me. Want to try to keep the MPG close to what I have. Anyone know the weight of the tock sport rims?

Anyway here is some of the research i have come up with.

I wish I had specs for the Terra Grapplers but I can’t find them anywhere.

FWIW I'm finally replacing my Toyo MT's after 70k miles of hard use. They are a tire that holds up really well and for that alone I would buy another set if I could afford it. I have an ATII that is my spare and it's also been a great tire. Just my .02

The stock SR5 16" alloys are 25lbs, so I'd venture to say the 17" Sport alloys are close to 27lbs.

not sure where you are getting your KO2 weights from. The 265/70-17 load C is only 45.7#.
I guess you are using the E rated tire?

I wouldn't buy a tire based on it weight. I look at performance of the ties and tread life.

I don't know what the OEM sport wheels and toyo tires weigh, but I didn't see any drop in mpg when I switched to Firestone Destination ATs P255-75-17 with 4runner TRD Pro wheels.

If you're talking stop and go mpg; then yes you may want to keep the weight down.

It seems to be a common misconception that the extra rotational mass will significantly affect the mpg at constant speed. Once you're up to speed the weight has no more effect than putting a similar weight in the bed. (Newton's first law.)

Loss of mpg is primarily due to increased diameter, width, and rolling resistance.

If MPG is your primary concern, you're going about this all wrong. Focus more on tire size. Oversizing your tires is a mistake IMO. Just get the tire you really want in a stock size. Your MPG's won't change much.

Stay with stock size if you want to save mpg
