So I'm sure I will be ordering a cap for my new LB OR and since i've never owned a truck previously I was hoping I could get some advice on how critical it would be to choose a topper that has side access... I'm torn between the Leer XQ and XR. I have two dogs, hunting, camping and hiking gear and a little one (stroller and such). Can someone that has a cap let me know their thoughts on how often they use and if they wish the side access windows.

    thanks.

I really like my side access "windoors". Although I don't use them every day (unless I'm camping), they are definitely worth the added cost. Makes it lots easier to grab things that are at front or sides of bed without having to climb in from the back. Add them, you will not regret it.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
I wouldn't own a topper without side windows that open. Without them, you literally have to crawl over everything to get that one thing you need in the front. They don't make the truck look as nice as the frameless windows that don't open but I use my trucks for hauling hunting and camping gear and need the function much more than the form.

I wish I had windoors. They are amazingly practical. However, you may be better off with the sliding windows with the screen since you're hauling dogs.

Can they be opened from the outside? I would like to access tools. I hunt too, but I do side jobs to pay the bills/

I didn't get windoors on my cap because in my old truck I had a cross style toolbox and the sides of my truck just got scratched to shit from my tool belt as I would reach over the bedsides to get stuff outta the box , I could see the same thing happening again with windoors

Sounds good. Side windows that flip up or slide? Any preference and why?
