Can you at least get the 500 mile break in done? Then it wouldnt be as bad IMO.

O and tile brushes....more common name for nylon bristle brushes that fit drills :)

Yeah, thankfully there's no rush to pull it back apart. I'm just going to be a 3x4 until I get in there haha. I've already hit 200miles on the new gears so I've got another few weeks to go.

Ah makes sense, thanks man. Gotta order one of those asap for redoing the ADD tube.

Thats good. Least you arent having ot drain the diff oil, fix it, then refill it, just to have to change it out later.

Today, I tackled the infamous shackle flip.

Tools: If you don't have a plasma torch these are your next best friends. Overkill even, the air hammer wasn't necessary at all. Only used it on the first side, then opt to use the 5lb with a punch, only took 2 or 3 blows to knock the uppers out.

After the rivets were ground flush I grabbed the BFH and knocked the mounts off.

After the mount was off I knocked the top rivets out with a hammer and an old bolt used as a makeshift punch.

Unlike the upper rivets the lowers needed to be drilled out. Cobalt Drill Bits paired with foam cutting fluid are a recommend combo. Start with a pilot then let the 1/2 bit rip through them. The rivet will gtfo and you'll feel like a king every time. The only part that sucked was getting rained on by shrapnel.

This is a good time to clean up the chassis.

Fitment: The factory tow hitch brackets are in the way to get the mount into the furthest back position so I opt to use the middle for now. You can see the bracket hitting the flip mount in the upper left of the photo.

The furthest shackle setting was used to get a 45° resting angle.

Sure looks like a stink beetle, I really need to lift the front, and get an alignment asap.

    Next up!

Really dig the write up! Do you mind if I link it from the FAQ in MTBS?

Not bad at all. Naw, I'll be sticking with the expos until my setup requires a custom pack. We'll see how she sits after the HC pelfrey goes on with a 35 hanging off the swingout.

Thanks man, yeah that's fine. I just followed what everyone suggested in the ATO thread, nothing new here but hopefully it's helpful.

Thanks. I'm trying to link as much useful data to that FAQ as possible. That's way it won't have to be beaten to death anymore

Roger that, you can also add my build to the MT list if you want. I'll be cleaning things up in here to make it easier to find stuff.

After a few flights across the country my stub shaft has returned. Now to get this rad mofo back in the ADD.

In other news I booked a welding day over at Mule for the bamf shock towers. Almost in disbelief that I'm going to have a mostly functional truck again.

If we get some clear weather this weekend I'll be hacking away. Already started on the flares, but those are going to take me awhile so I'll be running without them for a bit.

Custom spacers arrived last night from Motorsport-Tech. These are .75's, machined for our 106mm hub, and a 108mm wheel centering ring to match the Type X's without centercaps.

Now to test fit the 35's!

Been waiting a long time for this moment... . . :woot:

More chopping and pounding to go, I need more caster asap.

The new CMC plan with an abused fender that will soon be cut off.
